Weekly Summary as at: 24 October 2019
Hi <<First Name>>

Rainfall across the country has meant hydro storage in both islands has increased slightly compared to last week, sitting at 97% of average nationally. Demand has continued its seasonal decline out of winter, although the recent cold weather saw a short term spike in demand.

The Taranaki combined cycle plant (TCC), the second largest thermal generation unit in NZ, is expected to be back in service later today after its 11 day outage.

The planned Kupe outage is expected to commence on Wednesday 30 October, affecting around 15% of New Zealand average gas production until Wednesday 27 November. Updates on this outage can be found on the Gas Industry Company website. The impact of this outage on electricity generation will depend on generators’ ability to organise alternative fuel arrangements.

Transpower is holding an industry briefing at 10.30am-12.30pm on Wednesday 30 October to discuss the HVDC outages scheduled for January to April 2020. Details of the outages are available on Transpower’s website here.
