Living Faith enews: November 2019

Minister's Message

Dear Friends,

"Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him..." Psalm 100:5 NIV

We are proceeding into one of the most exciting times of the year and it seems apt to celebrate all that we are thankful for. Please join us on 28 November for what will be a fun evening where gratitude is shared and friendships are built. Above all we see it as an opportunity to remember all God has done for us as a church community and in our personal lives this year.

As we "come into His courts" each Sunday, may we continue to express and experience God's power as we worship Him. Our outward attitudes of welcoming visitors has made various people feel safe in our midst and I have spoken to some visitors who were blessed by their time among us. Talking of visitors, we look forward to hosting Rev Gerda Olafsen on 17 November who will inspire us with stories of ministry taking place in Queensland prisons.

We celebrate with joy the great turnout of people to the Pastoral Care training session we recently held. We are excitedly implementing a program to assist us in reaching more people with God's love and care. Thank you to all those who came along and participated in this vital form of ministry training.

We are grateful for the ongoing commitment of our Friday afternoon Prayer Group and the results we have seen from God's faithfulness towards their prayers. It is passionate prayers that can change circumstances, and indeed the world. Please join us if you are free on Fridays between 12:30 - 1:30pm in the boardroom. Of course we welcome prayers expressed from home too!

Enjoy this newsletter and spread the word to friends and family who may be interested in joining in any of our festivities. Before I go, remember to pick up your latest copy of Word For Today at the church door and grab a copy for anyone you know that may be unable to attend church.

Your friend,
Iris
DOORWAYS
These beautiful doorways belong to a church I visited in Israel. They remind me of the way church should be; open to the stranger, a pathway to healing, the light of the world and filled with the Ancient Power that still operates today. May Living Faith Uniting Church exemplify God's desire to grow His Kingdom in Carina Heights and beyond.

Kidz Church

Is there a child in your life who you wish could come to church?

Why not invite them to attend our Kidz Church program which runs every Sunday during the worship session. Children are also treated to a fun story with the greater church family before heading out to their classes. Children are also invited to participate in the service at various times.

Bring along your children or grandchildren, or invite friends and neighbours with their little ones to come along and join in the fun! For more information contact Rev Iris Marais irismarais@gmail.com
