Key subnational alliances for biodiversity

Regions4 Secretary General, Iñaki Susaeta, welcomes the European Committee of Regions and the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies as new partners of the Advisory Committee on Subnational Governments and Biodiversity to foster key alliances in the lead up to COP15 and the new post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.

Regional leadership at the SDG Summit

Regions4 Secretariat and members such as Azuay, Basque Country, Catalonia, CONGOPE, Council of Governors of Kenya, Flanders, Jalisco, Lombardy and Quebec took part of the SDG Summit and 2nd Local and Regional Governments Forum to contribute to the comprehensive review progress in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.

Helping shape the future of biodiversity

Regions4 was invited to take part in the EWRC to chair a roundtable session on the importance of nature-based solutions and other initiatives to protect and mainstream biodiversity at the local and regional levels while exchanging knowledge and capacity building.

Report from the UN Climate Action Summit

The outcomes of the UN Climate Action Summit on 23 September saw Catalonia committing to the Net Zero 2050 initiative, Gossas and Campeche committing to clean air by 2030 and Quebec's award for the first subnational climate financing scheme funded by the region's own carbon market.
