From the Principal

Dear Parkview Families,

We are quickly approaching the beginning of November and the weather has been fluctuating between warm and cold. We have outside recess every day because we believe the fresh air and activity at recess is very important to help students learn. Please be sure your child has mittens/gloves/hats and a jacket to wear at recess. Recess is indoors only when it is actually raining, so sometimes when the rain is intermittent, students will have outdoor recess and it can be wet on the blacktop. Having appropriate outdoor clothing is a big help for our students!

Next week we are celebrating the success of our FUN RUN with a school spirit week!
  • Monday: Mismatch Day- how much can you mis-match your clothes?
  • Tuesday: Jersey Day – wear your favorite jersey!
  • Wednesday: Spirit Wear Day – Parkview spirit wear or wear your FUN RUN shirt!
  • Thursday: Rainbow Day –  See how many colors can you wear for Rainbow Day!
  • Friday: Hat Day – wear your favorite hat to school!
The goal of our school community is to be inclusive of all of students, therefore, Parkview does not have a Halloween focus on October 31.  Students should not wear costumes to school. We will focus on the above spirit week activities with our students.

Families who choose to celebrate with costumes have the opportunity to participate in the PTO Trunk or Treat this Saturday. Details can be found below:
  • Who’s invited? Parkview Families and Community!
  • Where is the event? Parkview’s front parking area
  • When is the event? Saturday October 26th from 6:30-7:30pm
  • Thank you to all of the families who have volunteered to donate items or provide a trunk!
Remember to VOTE!
It is less than two weeks before the levy referendum and School Board election! Remember you can submit your absentee ballot application by next Monday, Oct. 28. After Monday, please vote early at the District Office or the government center in Hastings. You can also vote on Election Day. To find your polling place, go to mnvotes.org. An informational flyer about the District 196 levy referendum is being sent home this week in your child’s Friday Folder. This is an important choice for our school district community. Please be informed and vote. *Parkview is not a polling place for this election.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership!

Sincerely,
Nicole Garcia, Principal
