Remembering AIREA Past President Anthony Reynolds

Anthony Reynolds passed away on August 21 in Wichita, Kansas. Reynolds, who served as 1983 President of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers (AIREA), was a fixture in the DC Chapter for many years.

His wife Judith let us know that “he had a great life including his membership in the Appraisal Institute which meant much to him.” He was 89 years old.

AIDC/AI Presidents Meet
By 2019 AIDC President Bruce H. Davis, SRA

On September 10, I met for a casual lunch with Appraisal Institute President Stephen S. Wagner, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS and Ken Chitester, Director, Communications of the Appraisal Institute. Steve Wagner was in Washington, DC for national media interviews.

No agenda for the lunch meeting except to personally connect. But my conversations with Steve and Ken included sharing local chapter successes and challenges – which I’ve learned are often in common with other chapters. Steve, who has the national and international chapter connection experience, provided insight from that broader perspective. Also discussed were important federal legislation items on the Hill which impact our appraisal practice, including the de minimis threshold increase, bifurcated appraisals, rural appraiser shortages, and reduced licensing requirements for FHA appraisers.
