November 2019 Newsletter

Small but Significant

On Friday 4th October, for the first time, we hosted a networking event for small UK charities who work in Ethiopia on the occasion of our 15th Birthday. In the morning we worked hard. We had a presentation from Fergus Thomas of DFID (the Government Department for International Development) and then discussed topics of common interest in small groups, before a question-and-answer session. At the end of the morning, Ato Mekonen, a representative of the Ethiopian Embassy in London, addressed us, telling us about the climate of change in Ethiopia and new legislation concerning charities working in the country.
The following groups were represented.
Bees for Development - Janet Lowore
Department for International Development – Fergus Thomas
Enterprising Ethiopia – Stephen Whaley
Exeter Ethiopia Link – Valerie Huggins and Dick Benn
Facing Africa - Kidist Kebede Woldesenbet and David Nebreda
For Ethiopia – Tigist Grieve and team
For Development Association – Ethiopia – Worknesh Daba
Hope International – Julie Cole
Hospice Ethiopia UK – Susan Mumford and daughters
