Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - I Have a Dream

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.'

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is January 20.

January 1 Is Z Day!

Animals wait in line at a watering hole. The zebra is at the end of the line behind an elephant, ostrich, giraffe, and rhino.
Z Day was created to give recognition to all persons, places, and things whose names begin with the letter Z and who are always listed last in an alphabetized list. So this list of DCMP "z-sources" is for you, Mrs. Zelinsky, Zoe, Zachary, and Zahara Zalina Zarrabi from Zumbro Falls.

Online Workshops

online workshops
DCMP has online workshops available for continuing education credit. Certain workshops have been approved for RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) and ACVREP (Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals) credit. Upon successful completion of a workshop, you will receive a certificate, which can be used with other credentialing organizations. If you have any questions, please contact us at elearn@dcmp.org.

TIP: Teaching With Interactive Transcripts

DCMP videos include transcripts of the captions and the audio description. These files can be downloaded and/or printed. Transcripts can be used by teachers to pre-teach vocabulary and by students as study guides. Transcripts can be read via refreshable braille display by students who are blind or deaf-blind.

Click the "Transcript" button to enable the Interactive Transcript feature. This will display the transcript of the captions or audio description. Transcripts are searchable and screen reader-friendly.

  • Dress Up Your Pet Day (Jan. 14)
  • Winnie the Pooh Day (Jan. 18)
  • Penguin Awareness Day (Jan. 20)
