This week we celebrate
the Feast of...

St. Frances Xavier Cabrini
(Nov 13)

Frances Xavier Cabrini was the first United States citizen to be canonized. Her deep trust in the loving care of her God gave her the strength to be a valiant woman doing the work of Christ.

Refused admission to the religious order which had educated her to be a teacher, she began charitable work at the House of Providence Orphanage in Cadogno, Italy. In September 1877, she made her vows there and took the religious habit.

When the bishop closed the orphanage in 1880, he named Frances prioress of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart. Seven young women from the orphanage joined her.

Since her early childhood in Italy, Frances had wanted to be a missionary in China but, at the urging of Pope Leo XIII, Frances went west instead of east. She traveled with six sisters to New York City to work with the thousands of Italian immigrants living there.

  • Nancy HIlker will be available on Nov 12 and 13 from 1-3:00 pm in the atrium
  • Tim Rugenstein will be available on Nov 13 from 1-3:00 pm in the library

Please send your students to school with warm hats, coats, gloves and scarves. Tis the season for playing out side during recesses in below 50° weather and children MUST have coats to play comfortably outside. We need our students to be prepared for the cold weather recess.

And SNOW PANTS season is just around the corner so get your boots ready!

St. Mary's 7th and 8th Grade students will both be attending Lansing Catholic's 8th grade visit day. Volunteer drivers will leave the school by 8:30 am. Please contact Mr. Koski or Ms. Dion for more information.

3rd and 4th Grade will visit Lansing Catholic High School's production of Anne of Green Gables. The production will take place for the public the weekend following the field trip.

This year at St. Mary Catholic School we are requiring from each of our families 10 volunteer hours. We will always need help with our lunch/recess supervision. Each lunch/recess supervision attendance will count towards one of these hours. We hold the safety of our students of the utmost importance and we want to be able to
give our teachers a break for lunch throughout the day. In order to do this we need the help of our parents/guardians. Please consider signing up and thank you.
