Session two. tour of the Bloomberg office
A quick walk through Central Park and we were at the Bloomberg office ready to see inside the media offices.
For anyone familiar with NYC the office is at 731 Lexington when the office was built, it was known because it had the worlds first circular escalator.
All their 120 offices around the world are built on the three F’s
Food: snack stations are at the centre of their common areas.
Flowers: fresh flowers are in all areas of the office.
Fish: fish tanks and koi ponds are in all of the common spaces.
Everything is thought through, the coffee they use is sourced from female-owned farms in Rwanda and wind turbines out near the JFK power all their buildings in the city.
The top levels of the building are residential, Beyoncé and Jay Z once lived in the building!
Mike Bloomberg started Bloomberg which also builds the Bloomberg Terminal. The Terminal can produce 1 Billion pieces of data a day and helps to analyse financial markets all around the world.
Bloomberg TV news can get a story, written and live within 4 mins including graphics and in 12 languages. That’s in part, due to the Bloomberg terminal being able to access data so quickly.
27,000 journalists and 500 researchers to analyse the data from the Bloomberg terminal.
