Samhain Blessings!

I feel like I have not written a newsletter in ages! This is because the last newsletter I wrote was before I went to Ireland. Honestly, I should know better than to think I am going on a nice little vacation. I did get a break from being in the turmoil that has become the US.  However, this was an especially spirit-filled and initiatory visit this time.  Traveling to Ireland is always especially meaningful to me as it’s both my deep spiritual home as well as my ancestral home. I’ve had many past lives there within the blood lineage that I carry. It’s also my spiritual home. Being there is always especially powerful and it’s very hard to leave the land where I feel my very bones were made.

One of the things that became very clear during this visit was the teachings I am supposed to be bringing back and the work I am supposed to be doing with the spirits. I am going to be bringing more channeled teachings forward and reweaving the old ways for modern people.

The Old Ways are very feminine but don’t think feminine as soft and meek – oh no. These are warrior teachings and they are also connective teachings. Years ago I was told by my spirits I was to “lead people back to the forest”; a metaphor for bringing people back into connection with themselves, nature and Gaia. This trip was a big reminder for me of not only this but of who I am and what I’ve done over lots and lots of lifetimes. All of this has been hard to absorb, with coming back to97 the States and being plopped right back into my regular life.

On an herbal note, I got to taste fresh hawthorn berries (Crataegus ssp)! There were so many along the path up Knocknarea in Sligo that I just couldn’t help myself. And I felt like they were just asking to be sampled. I was not expecting them to be so tasty right off the tree.  I'm more used to the sourness of some our wild berries here. They were mild and delicious.

Hawthorn is super heart medicine – both physical heart and energetic heart. I use hawthorn energetically for those who have broken hearts for any reason.  The berries are full of antioxidants and help to reduce inflammation as well as high blood pressure.

This week I made a high antioxidant, heart-healing tea of hawthorn berry, rosehips, and rose petals, in honor of meeting hawthorn in Ireland. For this tea I put two heaping soup spoons full of rosehips, one heaping soup spoon each of hawthorn berries and red rose petals all in a Mason jar and fill with boiling water.  I cap it and let it sit for at least four hours or up to overnight. Rewarm and drink hot; drink room temp (what I like in cold weather rather than something cold from the fridge) or you can refrigerate it during hot weather for a cool, refreshing iced tea. As you drink this tea, feel hawthorn bringing a feeling of love and deep connection with your own ancestors into your heart center. Know that both hawthorn and the ancestors are always there for you.

If you’re still interested in my ReWeaving program, it’s still open until the end of the month! I’ve decided to change the format somewhat, using seasonal modules. You can take one, or all of them. The modules will be based around the 4 Celtic big holidays/seasons (Samhain, Imbolc, Beltaine, Lughnasa). Each module will be self-contained so students can pick stuff up later in the year, if they wish. I've downgraded the platforms, so we'll be doing live Zoom sessions that I'll record if you can't make them along with PDF lessons and discussion on a private FB group. Price is downgraded, too: sliding scale of $50 - $75/month.

If you’re interested, let me know. You can simply reply to this email or click here to use the contact page on my website. I haven’t had time to update my website with the changes.

I'm still working on the PDF for the clearing series. I'll announce that when it's finished.

I hope you are having a blessed Samhain season!

Love and Hawthorn,

Deb
