Faith and Works

Rev. Emily Burr, Guest Worship Leader
Sarah Dan Jones, Music Director, and Choir

We covenant to affirm and promote our seven Principles. If we truly want to promote our values, we must reach outward with action.

With a sad heart we announce that this last week, Betsy Twombly passed away. Her memorial is likely to be held in Hebron. We will share the details as her family lets us know. I know many will hold her in memory as a remarkable woman.

This November 9, I'll be gathering with UUs from across NH for the second annual UU Action NH StorySlam! and I'm inviting you to join us. It'll be a night of stories, food and fellowship as we listen to live stories from a variety of speakers, all on the theme of "Wholeness".The Storyslam is on Saturday, November 9 from 6:30-8:30 at UU Nashua. You can buy your tickets here.   Let me know if you'd like to carpool, please contact Rev. Emily Burr.

NHUU Climate Action Team Planning Meeting - Tuesday, November 12, 7:30-8:30 PM, Online via Zoom - There are many ways that NH UUs can help, from advocating for better laws around clean energy, renovating our churches to leading spiritual practices that allow us to honestly confront the scope of the crisis while keeping our eyes on the prize. Help us plan how to unleash our collective power! Register here:  https://zoom.us/meeting/register/5d17ba35d0856bfdcde7dc3c8da9331e?eType=EmailBlastContent&eId=d6b265ba-2c09-4e39-952c-98f1187883fe

November 13th 10:30AM to Noon - Wise Women in Training invites the public (yes, males and females ) to join us for an exploration of an important local nonprofit, Voices Against Violence.Cindy Spring will be facilitating our group hosting Tina Schumacker, Outreach & Education Coordinator with Voices Against Violence.  She has an exciting program planned for us with plenty of time for discussion.  This is one meeting where it would seem appropriate to bring a friend or several to enrich the experience. Do you really know the mission, and breadth of services this group offers?  Is this an important place to provide financial support or volunteer hours?

Climate Justice Meeting November 17 - Join Deedie, Rev. Linda, and others for a sharing of ideas on Sunday, November 17, after the service at 11 AM, in the sanctuary.  We will discuss becoming a “Green Sanctuary” (following UUA guidelines), as well as other ways to invite our congregation to engage in environmental justice.  Let’s be the change we want to see!  For more information on the “Green Sanctuary” designation, check out the new Board Bulletin Board - “What Can I Do to Help?” in the Fellowship Hall hallway.  Please join us on 11/17 and bring your ideas.

Message of Gratitude:  Hello: I am writing with gratitude and remembrance to all who facilitated and participated this August in the Solidarity Walk from Concord to Dover. I especially remembered the funereal services for those young children who lost their lives while migrating to America in the hopes of finding a safe and stabile life. Also memorable were the sounds of the inmates pounding against the glass windows as we walked by the Prison in recognition of their plight. Please help give these Asylum Seekers a chance by contributing to the NH Bail Bond Fund on the Faithify site below. Also take the time to see our video and read the story excerpts from those immigrants who were released  and from “John" who is still detained.

Civil Disobedience Training - Sunday, November 17, 1 - 5:30 p.m. Will Hopkins (the first baby born into the Fellowship!) and Arnie Alpert from NH Peace Action will conduct a  four hour training session to be held at 16 Highland St, the same place Pemi Climate Emergency Coalition has its monthly meetings. The  training will be general and all inclusive, explaining the ins and outs of mass action when joining in civil disobedience. It is important to know the goals of the action, your legal rights, what to do and not to do, etc. Even if you never plan on risking arrest, your presence at mass events is helpful. This training will be inspirational and entertaining, something many of us can learn from and enjoy.
You can sign up to receive Pemi Climate Emergency Coalition email updates by contacting pemiclimate@gmail.com.
