SNOOKER NEWS

ROVER 60  LEAGUE

With seventy-six matches completed the first series of the four part Rover 60  League  ended and the shuffling of promotion and relegation will provide a new mix of opponents starting next Monday.
Division 1 was topped by those smooth cue men Gerry Lawlor (17) and Michael Slattery (15) who will be joined from Division 11 by fathers-in-law Larry Keane (12)  and Peter Gillett(13).

The scramble out of Division 111 was headed by Sean O’Dwyer (13.5) and Jim Reynolds (11).We look forward to seeing a jet-lagged and recently retired Jim when he returns from a golfing holiday in the Phillipines.

By far the most evenly contested  was Division 1V with only  two points separating the top five players.  George Ormsby is tailed upward by Des “Forget- me –not” Gallagher , he of the Val Doonican sweater collection and star of the recent Brendan Grace Remembrance TV series.

Division V   new recruit, Camillus Dooley, competed well against crafty high hurdler of yesteryear Brian Murray and evergreen Brendan Kernan who with ninety years on the clock heads the “Race to the Park”

This is a rest week for the Rovers and the action gets underway again on Monday 11th November.

HANDICAP  EVENTS

The preliminary rounds in both the Singles and Doubles events are scheduled to be completed by Sunday 10th November with a further week to play first round ties.  These matches may be played daytime or evening or at week-ends.  Please use the appropriate Booking Sheets on the Snooker Room notice board.

THURSDAY NIGHT  BLITZ

For the second successive week Michael Slattery and Gerry Lawlor were unable to overcome a 20 plus handicap in the “no clock” final.   This time against the man of the rasping shots Damien Morris and assistant Sean O’Dwyer.  Blitz continues each Thursday at 7.30 pm.

DES  MORAN  CHALLENGE

The first matches of this home and away challenge series versus Howth Golf Club will be held at the hilly venue on Wednesday 13th November, with the return session hosted by Sutton one week later.  SLTC will endeavour to retain the shield.

GYM NEWS

Hi Everyone,

Firstly I would like to say a huge WELL DONE to all our body transformation participants on a great first week! It has been a week of hard work and dedication that I hope to see continue for the next five weeks. You can put your name down for our January body transformation by emailing your details to:

Lisaplunkett2012@gmail.com

Our new timetable kicked in this Monday and so far the feedback has been great! No better feeling than getting your workout over and done with first thing in the morning, so why not come down for our new ‘Rise and Shine’ class at 7.10am. The class promises to be something fresh each morning to get a tough workout in before starting your day.

Lastly, I have started a new whats app group to organise fitness challenges for our members. You don’t have to be a regular gym goer to join, all squash/tennis/social members welcome. I will be positing different challenges each day. This month we are aiming to complete 200 skips first thing in the morning and another 200 in the evening to up our overall cardio for the day and increase our daily calorie expenditure. Text me on 0870613011 to be added in 

Have a great week,
Lisa
