This Week In Doodle Art: Meditative Art Making Beaded Mandalas
If you've tried meditation, you may have discovered that it can be hard. The brain is always thinking and it is difficult not to follow your thoughts! However, creating art is a way to access a meditative state of mind.
We looked at Mandala's which are geometric figures that represent the universe in Hindu and Buddhist symbolism. We learned that you can make mandalas out of pretty much anything!
Mandalas are used for meditation, prayer, healing and art therapy for both adults and kids. They have been show do reduce stress and lower blood pressure, as well as other benefits.
The Project: We took Ikea cork trivets and drew Mandalas on them with brush markers and then pinned beads on them using wire nails. Many of the kids felt like they got into a flow state while working!
