Into the depths of

Winter

As we continue on another spin around the sun, we are tilted away from its heat and light and as a result we have shorter days of sunshine, but much richer darkness. it is the time to renew, restore, nurture, rest.  It is the element water that peaks now, with its coolness, tranquility and into the depths of inner reflection.

Do not ever think that water however is weak. it is the abundance of what this planet is made of, it can be solid as ice, and steam like vapor. It can move around, through, and gradually move dams, rocks and mountains. You are the same 70% water inside as all the water on this planet that is made of the same 70% water on the outside. Find the connection, be like water my friend!

November 7 begins the transition into winter which will peak on the Winter Solstice on December 21. It is easy to understand when we look at the earth and the cosmos just as we look at ourselves as volumes of space instead of a flatness of a calendar with a mark on a square. Feel the change, as we know the wind of Autumn came in to transform and move the winter heat out and the cold in. The same happens to the body. Entropy happens everywhere.

The second law of thermodynamics is one of the most fundamental laws of nature, having profound implications. In essence, it says this:

The second law - The level of disorder in the universe is steadily increasing. Systems tend to move from ordered behavior to more random behavior.

One implication of the second law is that heat flows spontaneously from a hotter region to a cooler region, but will not flow spontaneously the other way. This applies to anything that flows: it will naturally flow downhill rather than uphill.

If you watched a film forwards and backwards, you would almost certainly be able to tell which way was which because of the way things happen. A pendulum will gradually lose energy and come to a stop, but it doesn't pick up energy spontaneously; an ice cube melts to form a puddle, but a puddle never spontaneously transforms itself into an ice cube; a glass falling off a table might shatter when it hits the ground, but the pieces will never spontaneously jump back together to form the glass again. Many processes are irreversible, and any irreversible process increases the level of disorder. One of the most important implications of the second law is that it indicates which way time goes - time naturally flows in a way that increases disorder.

Qigong and the Yin Tonifying Forms

We will begin adding in more Kidney forms, the season of winter is the peak of the Kidneys. These forms include:
  • Calming the Waters (KD/LV)
  • 5 Element Meets 5 Element (KD Jing)
  • The Beholding (KD/LU)
  • Condensing the Taiji Ball (KD storage of Qi)
  • Effortlessly rowing (Yin)
  • Straddling the River (Jing Yang)

In consideration of Yin, when we say Yin Forms, it means the beginning and the return, the potential and the source. So we shall think of these forms of the source of all of the elements, because all of the organs have Yin aspects, all of them have Yang, but it is the source of Yin where Yang comes from and returns to replenish.

The Yin is the soul, the Yang is the spirit that activates it. The Yin is love, and the Yang is the emotion and feeling of it.

Below are the practice sheets for the Yin Tonifying Forms as we move closer to the depth of winter we will practice more of this set:

Maximum Yin Stance
Wiping the Pond (LV)
Flame Shaping (HT)
Walking the Bear (SP)
Eternal Wings (LU)
Effortless Rowing (KD)
Maximum Yin Stance

Gingko Tincture coming soon.........
An herbalist friend from Portland, Oregon found an amazing Gingko growing in the city and sent me some beautiful leaves which I will be making tincture soon and ready end of the November.

Ginkgo biloba, commonly known as ginkgo or gingko, also known as the maidenhair tree, is the only living species in the division Ginkgophyta, all others being extinct. It is found in fossils dating back 270 million years. Native to China, the tree is widely cultivated, and was cultivated early in human history.

Ginkgo biloba is a popular supplement and one of the top-selling herbal medicines. ... The therapeutic properties of the ginkgo plant are said to include treatment for blood disorders and memory problems, enhancement of cardiovascular function and to improve eye health.
Be Well, Thank you for Practicing with me and making this community strong! Candace.
