ESA_Stephen_Makin_2019

Congratulations as UCL becomes the newest UK ESA_Lab

UCL Vice-Provost (Research) David Price and ESA Director General Johann-Dietrich Woerner signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) that has made UCL an official ESA_LAB on the 24th of September at the UK Space Conference in Newport Wales.

This MoA has created a mutually beneficial relationship which will allow UCL to better align with ESA's research needs and provide specialist support to relevant space-related research programmes.

Congratulations to all involved, particularly the theme leaders:

1 O'Clock Space Talk - How Vulnerable are Space Activities?

The UCL Space Domain is excited to announce our next confirmed Lecture 'How Vulnerable are Space Activites?' in our new series of 1 O'Clock Space Lectures. The next lecture will be on the 11th of December 2019 from 13:00-14:00 in Benthan House, Lecture Room LG26 given by Prof. Serge Plattard, Deputy Director of the UCL Space Domain, MAPS Faculty.

Congratulations to the UCL's team lead by Prof. Giovanna Tinetti for their results demonstrating water vapour in the atmosphere of planet K2-18 b.

SmartSat CRC

The SmartSat CRC is a consortium of industry and research organisations that will develop game changing technologies to bootstrap Australia’s space industry and catapult it into the 1/2 trillion dollar global economy.

SmartSat CRC has secured $245M in funding and are actively looking for research partners.

The UCL Space Domain is looking for your best Space images to create a mosaic image of London taken from the ISS and put on our new Space Domain T-Shirts and Tote Bags. If you have a great image that encapsulates the Space Domain or the research that is going on at UCL please add it to our mosaic here.

Space Exhibitions


The Moon Exhibition at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich is the UK's biggest exhibition exploring our cultural and scientific relationship with the Moon. Exhibition on until 5th January 2020.

Moving to Mars exhibition at the Design Museum is on until 23rd of February 2020. Further details.
