Tonight’s Canadian Cannabis Awards will honour the best in the legal biz.
The black-tie gala at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York Hotel is billed as the ‘must-attend event of the year.
“For the third year in a row, the CCAs will feature an awards gala dinner and ceremony where industry leaders will come together to eat, drink, and celebrate excellence in Canadian cannabis,” says Lift & Co.
The cannabis-focused media company founded the awards in 2014 as an annual celebration of industry talent and advocates.
Each year, they add new award categories, “reflecting — and increasingly, influencing — the dynamism of the evolving cannabis sector.”
The winning people, brands and organizations are determined by a panel of expert judges, while the top products are chosen by consumers who submit receipts to validate their votes.
The awards cover 32 categories.

Aphria doubles with Diamond

Aphria is set to double its production after receiving a cultivation licence from Health Canada for Aphria Diamond — the Company’s second Leamington, Ontario, cannabis greenhouse facility.
The new facility will add 1.3 million square feet of production space with an annual growing capacity of 140,000 kilos.
Along with the Aphria One facility and its subsidiary, Broken Coast Cannabis, the company now has more than 2.4 million square feet of cultivation space capable of reaching a total annualized production capacity of 255,000 kilos.
“We are extremely pleased to receive the licence for our long-awaited Aphria Diamond facility, which more than doubles our Canadian production capacity,” said Aphria’s interim CEO Irwin D. Simon. “Reaching industry-leading production levels coinciding with the expansion into new categories and new opportunities for cannabis in Canada and around the world is a transformative moment for Aphria Inc.”
Aphria Diamond features industrial-scale automation technology that’s the hallmark of Aphria One’s Part IV and V expansions. The automation will handle cultivation functions, including transplanting cuttings, transporting plants through harvesting, de-budding and trimming, drying and curing, and waste disposal.
“We believe the introduction of our proprietary automation technology at Aphria Diamond will provide us with the ability to cultivate high-quality cannabis with great efficiency and at an unprecedented scale,” says Simon.
“As we remain focused on sales growth and profitability, this unique advantage is expected to enable Aphria to continue to create long-term value and drive the evolution of the industry through innovation and the development of leading brands.”
