Welcome to the Movember newsletter!
This month includes:
  1. This year's BIG Movember Challenges
  2. All our best tips on pain management, golf and building habits
  3. Out and about: Highlights from what the team has been up to lately.
  4. What's been happening in the clinic?
How long will you make Claire do a plank for?

How many push ups will you make Ben do?

How far will you make Phil run?

We at Tailored Health have been supporting Movember for over 5 years with their efforts in tackling prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide on a global scale. This year our Movember "move more" team goal is to complete:

                   1. 500 Push-ups, with 1 push up per $1 donated
                   2. 83mins of Plank, with 10 seconds on plank per $1 donated
                   3. 25km Run, with 50m of running per $1 donated

This would total to raise $1500 for Movember and would also give us one big epic challenge of a work out each!

Our goal is to complete all of our respective exercises on the following dates:
                   1. Phil to run on the 28th of November
                   2. Claire to plank on the 29th of November
                   3. Ben to do push ups on the 30th of November

We would appreciate any and all support either on the days of our exercise challenges or in the form of a donation to go towards stopping men from dying too young.

INSTANTLY ADD MORE ROTATION TO YOUR GOLF SWING
Full details here

The bad news: If you are tight through your upper body, and have C posture, you're not only robbing yourself of distance but you're increasing your risk of injury 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♀️

The good news: It's completely fixable with the right golf exercises 😁💪 To help you get started and feel limber for your weekend round of golf, download my #1 EXERCISE below which will enhance your upper body rotation instantly.

Bonus: If you don't have C posture, this exercise will still help you feel great and mobile prior to stepping onto the 1st tee.

BUILDING HABITS

Here's how Phil got back on the bike!

"If your bike was collecting dust like mine was then why not dust it off, fix the flat tire that made you stop and start riding again!

So after about 7 years got the old bike out and fixed it up (2 trips to the bike shop and 2 hrs later) and gave it a test run.

Great fun, highly recommended!"

Read Phil's key insights into how to build better habits and stay on track with your health goals below.

THE VIEW DEAKIN UNIVERSITY'S NEW EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY BUILDING
TOP 5 REASONS I LOVE TO MIX IT UP WITH A HOME VISIT

Here's a view from inside the huge "transformer" looking building from 2 weeks ago. If you've been on Burwood Highway in the past 12 months you would have struggled to miss it!

It was quite surreal going back to where I spent so much time learning about health and Clinical Exercise, plus sitting in a room filled with old class mates listening to a lecture ("update" 😉) from your Cardio Professor (Mr Selig).

With the way the new building has been built, it's going to be amazing to see the quality research and people (in the form of Exercise Physiologists) that come out of it in the coming years.

1. Get to help clients who cannot get to our clinic
2. Get to know amazing things about the client that often wouldn't come up in the clinic
3. Get to listen to an audiobook on the drive there
4. Sometimes once the hard works done, you get to share a cuppa and/or lunch!
5. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, SOMETIMES THEY'RE WITH YOUR LOVELY NAN. 🥰

Note: Nan can and does visit us at the clinic for weekly group classes, she just twisted my arm to come out for lunch and a review appt.

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE CLINIC?
LIFE! PROGRAM
It's always fun working with those at risk of Type 2 Diabetes, particularly due to the large improvements that can be made by making simple and subtle changes.

Everyone left this session with:
✅ Greater awareness of how physical activity can help their health, reducing blood sugar levels
✅ A workout to practice at home (completed as part of today's session)
✅ A SMART goal ready to implement starting tomorrow
✅ Multiple hi 5's
✅ Big smiles 😁
INTRODUCING MAT

Mat is a welcome addition to the Tailored Health team and will be working 24/7!

-> He'll be there to greet you at the start and end of every appointment

-> He has a slight spray paint odour which he believes willl fade over time

->His resume claimed he can speak up to eight languages, but we're yet to hear one word from him

->He's different in the way that he doesn't mind being walked all over, in fact he kind of likes it

Just like the rest of the Tailored Health family, we love you for who you are. ❤️

Please make Mat feel welcome! I know he looks forward to seeing you at your next appointment. 😁

EMILY, THE CUPCAKE SUPERSTAR!

Claire was feeling very spoilt when Emily, who is part of the admin team at Tailored Health, brought in lovely delicious, red velvet cupcakes!

On top of putting in 110% into everything Emily does at Tailored Health, she is also now the official cupcake making 💥SUPERSTAR💥, surprising Claire for her 28th birthday!
