Mondays, 7-11 p.m.Regular readers of Dave's Corner will remember that in February of this year the city's snow plow destroyed my mailbox. I documented what happened, and complained multiple times about it, very politely. To the city's credit they finally replaced my mailbox 4 months later (June of this year). However they didn't put the mailbox in the ground, like the old mailbox was in the ground. Instead they just left it in a dirt bucket. Anyway, we attempted to do it ourselves and we didn't do a great job. But it was in the ground and sorta okay. The city came by today to replace the mailbox again. I have no idea why, since I wasn't home, and my father-in-law who was visiting, was not aware of the situation. They took away the mailbox we had put in the ground and put a new mailbox in the ground better than the one before. Maybe they thought we didn't do a good enough job? Maybe they actually were coming back to put in the one they left in the bucket? Four months later though? Either way if they had just replaced the mailbox quickly and correctly the first time, that they destroyed, they would have saved both myself and them a lot of time and aggravation.
That said, thank you to the city for following up and fixing the damage you caused, even if it was extremely late.

The intellect is at home in that which is fixed only because it is done and over with, for intellect is itself just as much a deposit of past life as is the matter to which it is congenial. Intuition alone articulates in the forward thrust of life and alone lays hold of reality.
