November 2019 Edition
October was a super special month as we had a family get together in Holland to celebrate my Dad's 75th birthday.  It was wonderful to see all my family and spend some quality time together.

Now I am back, Christmas preparations are in full swing!  I like to plan as much as I can in November so I can enjoy all the activities we have booked with friends and family in December.  I hope my latest video will help you plan your Christmas.  Check it out!
10-year membership!
This November marks 15 years of the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers Association (APDO).  I am happy to have been a member for nearly 10 years out of those 15!  I am also still the Immediate Past President.  To mark the occasion, I will be celebrating on 9th November at the APDO Party!  Whilst in Holland last month I met with Anke Algera, the Dutch President of NBPO, the equivalent of the APDO. This is a photo of Anke and I after our lovely catch-up!

My top tips for a mindful festive season
1. Make a mindful gift list
Perhaps ask your friends and family if they would like gifts this year or would money, experiences or food gifts be better.

2. Plan your Christmas menus to avoid too much food waste
Think about what you will be doing over Christmas, and how much food you will actually eat, to help reduce food waste and save money.

3. Try to minimise the impact on the environment
Consider plastic-free crackers and glitter-free cards and wrap which can all be recycled.

4. Plan your festive dates in November
Can you plan Christmas outings, a trip to the theatre, friends and family meet-ups, a date for tree decorating etc... during November?

5. Christmas cards
Writing a whole stack of Christmas cards can be stressful.  Consider your Christmas card list, could you send more e-cards perhaps?
Meal planning tips
I had the pleasure of interviewing Mylène Houle Morency for the Declutter Hub Podcast recently.  Mylène is expert in meal planning and has so many fascinating tips on how to get organised with food shopping, menu planning, streamlining recipe ideas and how to prepare in advance on busy days.   Listen here

Declutter by Christmas
I recently worked with a client who lived in a small flat. She had come to a point in her life where space  was really important to her.  I helped her to declutter items she no longer needed and the sense of relief that she felt from gaining extra space was overwhelming.  If you need to create some space in your home before Christmas do get in touch.
November is always a busy month, especially with Christmas looming.  Make a list of festive planning that can be done in November and work your way through it one task at a time to avoid the December overwhelm.

If you haven't done so already, now's a great time put away summer belongings, including duvets and clothes.  Make sure you have all your winter woollies to hand instead!

Have a great November everyone!
