The 3-years journey has started: Fostex partners met and planned

On February 18th and 19th 2019, the official kick-off meeting of Fostex project was held at the textile engineering department facilities of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, located in Terrassa, the historical reference industrial area of the Spanish textile sector. During this first encounter, the partners of the new initiative had the chance to deeply discuss and plan the first six month of project implementation. The Fostex consortium involves a total of 13 organisations, coming from the south of Europe - Spain, Italy, Greece and Romania - and 6 partners located in Morocco and Jordan. After a fruitful consortium meeting, the participants had the opportunity to visit different labs of the hosting partner UPC and to access the research centre of the nearby located cluster organisation AEI Textils, being also part of the partnership.

After less than six month of project implementation, a dedicated website has been launched at www.fostexproject.eu. The online presence offers stakeholders of the textile industry and general audience interested in Fostex an intuitive tool to discover the initiative’s objectives, involved organisations, project outputs and available open-access resources. The correlated social media profiles - facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn Group - provide direct communication channels for an interactive exchange for both, consortium partners and stakeholders of the international T&C sector. EU experts visit ESITH and UH2C: new equipment to innovate

Within the framework of Fostex’s preparatory activities, started right at the begging of the project in February 2019, experts of the European consortium partners participated in a two-day meeting on September 5th and 6th in Morocco. Main aim of the visit was to complete the identification and evaluation of the needs for the two advanced textile innovation centres that will be implemented at the two higher education institutions in Morocco thanks to the Fostex initiative. Based on the fruitful meeting which provided a thorough evaluation and direct confrontation with the local context, the consortium partners jointly defined a scenario for future development in the local textile sector: starting from the equipment that will be purchased thanks to project Fostex, medical textile, textile for protective equipment, sport textile and textile for automotive will be the main focus of the new advanced textile innovation centres.

Hot November: next meeting and ITMC 2019 in Morrocco

Next consortium meeting is planned for mid-November in Morocco and will be hosted by project partner ESITH at its facilities in Casablanca. Date and place have been chosen to offer the consortium partners the possibility to participate to the 7 th edition of the International Conference on Intelligent Textiles and Mass Customization - ITMC 2019. The conference meets every two years, where the organisation rotates among the five coordinating countries: Belgium, Canada, France, Japan, and Morocco. The 2019 edition is hosted by Fostex partner ESITH and will take place from November 13th and 14th in Marrakech. Arranging the third Fostex consortium meeting linked to the conference provides a great occasion to exploit the international event for project dissemination and networking.
