Hey Lake Worth Beach Family,

As the Holidays approach most departments are winding down.  In Leisure we are the exact opposite. This is the busiest time of the year for our Department! If you're trying to get in touch with staff please allow us some time to get back to you. If it's something that can wait please reach out after December 14th.

We invite you to participate in our programs and events that bring our beautiful city to life!

Lake Worth Beach
Zombie 1k Run & Little Scream!

October 25 | 6pm

The Leisure Services Team put on an evening of Halloween fun in Bryant Park. Starting with the 1st annual 1K Zombie Run where participants were pursued by a hoard of ravenous zombies through the park before joining the crowds for the Trunk & Treat followed by Costume Contest and big screen showing of Hocus Pocus at the pavilion. The Mayor, Vice Mayor, and Mayor Pro Tem all came out to help moderate the costume contest and Public Works' Recycling extraordinaire, Christine, made use of the opportunity to eradicate some public fear of recycling practises.

  • Rock-N-Soul museum
  • Mason Temple (where Dr. King last prayed before he was assassinated)
  • The famous BEALE STREET & the Peabody Hotel
This trip was a great success for the program and all participants had a fantastic time!

The Library Awaits You!

November is a great month for the Library as we see 2 new and exciting outreach programs launch.

Books & Bubbles, our partnership program with the Lake Worth Beach Little Free Library Project and the Friends of the Lake Worth Beach Library, kicks off in 2 Lake Worth Beach laundromat locations at 9:30 am on Saturday, November 16 and November 23. We will reading books and singing songs to introduce literacy and the Library to families who may not know about us.  The children who participate will receive a book to take home and bubbles to enjoy while waiting for their clothes to be finished. This program was funded by a grant from Healthier Lake Worth Beach.

Family Storytime, a partnership program with Bridges of Lake Worth Beach, was inspired by the Library’s Table Talk program. Families will come together for dinner and an opportunity to strengthen their oral language skills, by creating stories using games and pictures. This 4 session project held in the evening on November 6, 13, 20, and 26 requires registration through Bridges to participate. The final night will feature a feast and a retelling of the Thanksgiving story.

Read for the Record happens on November 7. Lake Worth Beach City officials, employees, and other volunteers will read the book, Thank You, Omu! in Lake Worth Beach classrooms.
The Library will be closed on November 9, as the staff will help out with the Veteran’s Day festivities. Signs have been posted for a month stating this.

Regularly scheduled programs continue in November, Baby and Toddler Storytime and Preschool Storytime.

The Library Advisory Board is scheduled to meet this month at 6:00 pm on Thursday, November 21, in the Library.
