Josey Lake Park Wins 2019 Best of Design Award for Public Landscape
Clark Condon is beyond thrilled to announce that Josey Lake Park has won the 2019 Best of Design Award from The Architect’s Newspaper for the Pubic Landscape category! Congrats to our team including, Bridgeland, The Howard Hughes Corporation, Overland Partners and BGE, Inc.
The Best of Design awards program features 47 categories and receives nominations from across the United States. This year they received more than 800 submissions alone. You can read about the awards program and see the full list of winners here.

The Gulfton Skatepark at Burnett Bayland Park Awarded Reach Award
Last month, The Gulfton Skatepark at Burnett Bayland Park was awarded the Reach Award from the Houston-Galveston Area Council's Our Great Region Awards. The Reach category honors a project that demonstrates exemplary public participation.
This project is a great example of community involvement; it was planned, conceived, and shepherded by a group of teens that wanted to have a voice and create change. They recognized a need within their community and successfully pursued the right parties to get the project approved, funded and designed.

SanVoss Way | Houston, Texas
CapRidge Partners and Abel Design Group just announced their latest renovation project in Houston, SanVoss Way. This new renovation and rebrand will enhance and enliven the building amenities and outdoor spaces through the addition of a programmable activities lawn, shaded seating areas and outdoor meeting spaces, to list a few. This project is another great example of how reimagining existing spaces transforms the environment and brings value to all of its users now and in the future.

Reimagined Retail
Alongside Lincoln Property Company and Ziegler Cooper Architects, Clark Condon transformed 70,000 square feet of the former Exxon Mobil Campus into a vibrant retail corridor, dubbed CityNorth. The extensive landscape improvements include expanded public green space, outdoor lounge areas and flexible event lawns. Outdoor work-enabled spaces provide campus tenants with areas for mobile work, remote meetings and group presentations. The revamped dining opportunities feature dining terraces and water features to enhance the user experience and activate the campus during and after business hours.
We worked closely with the client and contractor to utilize as many of the large, existing trees on site as possible to provide an instant impact. Useable spaces were created by removing a lane of traffic and parking. By reclaiming this space, the design team was able to activate approximately 1,000 linear feet of storefront and provide the tenants with valuable space immediately adjacent to their front door. Circulation was carefully considered to increase access to the retail frontage and office towers while also creating a vibrant public space to attract and retain users. Additionally, we strategically placed event spaces to provide the client with opportunities to expand the number of programmed activities throughout the year and increase pedestrian traffic to provide further incentives for corporate tenants. The project opened to the public in November 2019.
