Ancient Greece

Throughout November, Second Grade students will learn the literature, geography and history of Ancient Greece. Beginning with Greek mythology, students are exposed to the stories foundational to Greek civilization and Western culture. Students share in excitement and wonder as they hear tales of Zeus and the gods, the story of Icarus' flight, and Eris' apple of discord, among many other  adventures. Alongside this rich literary tradition, students develop a geographical and historical context, learning the locations and complexity of the Greek city states, including Athens and Sparta.

Koinobori

Recently our 2nd grade students learned about Children's Day which is celebrated every year in Japan.  This holiday is a day where children are respected and honored for their individual strengths and happiness is wished upon them.  In addition, on this day Koinobori (cloth carp streamers) are flown outside of buildings and homes to bring luck and good fortune to the children inside. Our 2nd graders created their own Koinobori to bring luck and good fortune to the students at Ivywood.

Plymouth Community Walk Of Trees

Join us for an Ivywood family event to help decorate our very first Ivywood Classical Academy holiday tree for the Plymouth Community Walk of Trees in Downtown Plymouth.  These trees are a cherished & popular event in Downtown Plymouth.

We will bring the decorations, but we need your help in placing them on the tree.  Come on out, help decorate and enjoy some hot chocolate & cookies with Ivywood families.

This will be a great family event to help kick off the holiday season.  We hope to see many of you there.

Give us feedback

We are looking for feedback on our first two months of school. Please fill out this survey to give us feedback. The deadline to complete the survey is November 22.
