Who We Are

Westside Transportation Alliance, a nonprofit that works with employers and local governments to reduce auto commute trips in Washington County, Oregon.
It's Not Too Late!
Log your trips in Get There by the end of the day on Friday (11/15) to qualify for the Time Change Challenge prize drawings.

The Get There Challenge: Westside Winners

The Get There Challenge spanned from October 7th to the 21st, with 2,269 participants statewide and 186 in Washington County. To increase the prize-winning odds of WTA's members, we randomly selected five winners for each week of the challenge to win $20 gift cards.

Our week 1 winners included Alex and Melanie from Washington County, Michael and Douglas from Intel, and Jahmai from the City of Beaverton. These winners received $20 to Fred Meyer and used a combination of biking, carpooling, and transit to reduce drive-alone trips. Congrats, week 1 winners!

The winners from week 2 included Rebecca from the City of Beaverton, Laura from Intel, Chaz from Washington County, Oscar from Kaiser Permanente, and Tina from the City of Tigard. They won $20 to Amazon and logged bike, transit, and carpool trips. Way to go, week 2 winners!

During the two weeks of the Challenge, WTA also conducted two social media contests, where two winners per contest won $5 Starbucks gift cards. Our Instagram winners were Emma and Courtney, and the Facebook winners were Tonya and Christine. Did you miss these contests? Make sure you follow WTA on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to stay in the loop with us!

Be Safe, Be Seen

On Tuesday, November 5th, WTA joined the Washington County Sustainability program for a pedestrian visibility campaign. As the time change brings more darkness to our days, pedestrian visibility becomes even more essential. Decked out in their favorite reflective and bright gear, WTA's Caitlin and Maddie handed out free reflective items to evening commuters and shed light (pun intended) on the importance of pedestrian visibility.
October's lucky winners include Thomas from Intel, Addie, Laura, and Edin from Nike. Congrats on winning $25 to Amazon! They used a mix of transit, carpool, telework, and bicycling as their non-drive alone commute modes. Nice work!

Next month's drawings will select four winners who will each receive a $50 gift card to Whole Foods Market. Log just four days of non-drive alone commute trips in a month in Get There for an entry into our monthly Commuter Kickbacks prize drawing. An additional four days = an additional entry. It's that easy!

Commuter Spotligtht: Michael

"I run about three miles to and from a shuttle offered by my employer, Intel, a couple of days a week and I bike on some of the other days, since I need a day between run commutes to recover. Running also takes too long for me to make it to early evening activities some days. I recently started learning to ride a OneWheel Pint to avoid driving alone even more days, since I can take it with me on the bus and use it as a last mile option when I have errands. Some other useful gear includes polyester polos that save weight by being suitable for the office as well as for running home and sunglasses frames with clear lenses to keep dust out of my eyes. I enjoy being able to take in more of the sights and sounds of my commute such as vivid sunrises (as in the picture) and screeching hawks than I can when I drive."

Thanks, Michael!

The Washington County Budget Listening Tour

The Washington County Board of Commissioners would like to hear from community residents to inform their budget priorities over the next several years. Four separate, hour-and-a-half listening sessions are scheduled in each of the four commissioner districts throughout the month of November.

Each session will provide an opportunity for information gathering as well as discussion and input on how county government should prioritize budget spending. All are welcome at any or all of the sessions which will include light refreshments. Language interpretation is also available by contacting 503-846-6288 at least one day in advance of the chosen session.

Free, online registration is strongly encouraged through the following links indicating date, time and location:

Spanish speakers are invited to register for the same dates and times and can request language interpretation if desired at this link.

Those who are unable to attend may also submit their ideas for top budget priorities by sending an email to CAO@co.washington.or.us with the subject line “Budget Tour.”
