Tonight! Welcome Major Senzer

The Atlanta Police Department is anticipating some major changes within the next few weeks. Three of the Majors in the department are retiring with replacements on the way. The out-going Police Majors are Majors Schierbaum, Vazquez, and Shaw. All three have provided outstanding service to Atlanta and District 6. It is a shame to see their tenure come to a close but we wish them the best in retirement!

We are, however, excited to welcome Major Senzer to Zone 2. Zone 2 covers Lindbergh/Morosgo, Lindridge-Martin Manor, Morningside, Piedmont Heights, and Brookwood Hills - a significant portion of District 6. Our office and our residents will be working alongside Major Senzer and we have the opportunity to meet him tonight, December 5, at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church at 6 PM. This is a great chance to meet the person responsible for your safety face-to-face and give a solid District 6 welcome!

Tonight! Murphy's Tree Lighting

The annual tree lighting at Murphy's is upon us! Take a moment to enjoy the holiday season with neighbors and loved ones and come on out for this special event. Tonight, December 5th from 6 to 8 PM you can catch this magical event. We hope to see you there!

Virginia-Highland Tour of Homes

The 25th annual Virginia-Highland Tour of Homes is upon us yet again! This is an exciting opportunity to view some of the show-case homes in the neighborhood ranging from a 1912 bungalow to modern designs. There are eight homes in total along with a pop-up history exhibit of the neighborhood. This year's dates are December 7th and 8th from 10 AM to 4 PM each day with the food tastings occurring from Noon to 4 PM (or until food runs out!). To learn more, get your tickets, or sign up to volunteer, please visit the website!

City of Atlanta Water and Sewer Appeals Board

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your billing dispute or adjustment request, an appeal to the City of Atlanta Water and Sewer Appeals Board may be requested per City Ordinance Section 154-28 within seven days of the Department of Watershed Management’s dispute resolution decision. The Water and Sewer Appeals Board is a group of citizens appointed by the Atlanta City Council to conduct hearings to review the dispute. You have a right to an appeal only after your bill has gone through the formal dispute process and a decision has been rendered.

Happy Holidays!

The holidays are among us and everything associated with it. It's a time for celebration and enjoying time with loved ones. Many will be traveling and many will be hosting out-of-town friends and family. Make sure you're prepared for your destination and pack accordingly - weather is always unpredictable this time of year!

While the holidays are a delight, crime tends to spike around the holidays. People tend to have more cash on them and homes are left vacant while traveling making easy targets for theft. Make sure to be on the lookout for suspicious behavior while your neighbors are gone. Drunk driving increases around this time of year as well, make sure to have a plan to get home safe!

Georgia Power Northeast Trail Construction

Now that Georgia Power has installed new utility poles and completed line work in the northeast corridor, they are kicking off constuction on a segment of the Northeast Trail between Ansley Mall and the Buford-Spring Connector. Georgia Power will be paving the Atlanta BeltLine multi-use trail, which will include the 14-foot wide trail, and access point at Montgomery Ferry Drive, stormwater systems, retaining walls, and initial landscaping. This work is expected to complete by Fall 2020.

Once Georgia Power has completed their work and Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. has identified finding, Atlanta BeltLine will do follow-on work between Westminster Drive and Mayson Street to complete the full trail build-out. This will include the addition of lighting, security cameras, landscaping, and connections to the Westminster Avenue, Piedmont Avenue, and Mayson Street. For your safety, and to avoid disruption and delay to construction, please stay out of the corridor while work is underway.
