It is a busy season for STRIDE! We have 2 retreats with only one day of prep in-between!
Retreat one: Labor Day Camping retreat at Bear Lake on the Utah/Idaho border.
We will be wilderness camping... as in digging our own toilet and bringing our own water. We are expecting 20-30 people to attend & we will be sleeping in tents or hammocks in the trees. My teaching theme is on prayer. Please pray that these Airmen will build a community, hear about Christ, have a blast, and spend time alone with God in the mountains as they learn to pray. Pray also for safety as we rock climb, bike, hike and have a water day on Bear Lake!
Retreat two: Archery Elk Hunting September 4-13th. (This picture is from my 50 yard target practice).
Five Airmen from Hill AFB are joining me for this adventure at 11,000 feet. Like the other retreat, we will sleep while hanging in the trees from hammocks. Experience tells me there is always a chance we will experience harsh conditions such as snow, hail, lighting storms, forest fires, and/or very cold nights. WHY do we do this? Because we really crave adventure! There are few things more amazing than a screaming huge bull elk yelling at you ... and you bugling back at him.
My teaching theme for the hunt is Godly Husbands & Fathers. These are our memory verses:
Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
1 Peter 3:7 In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives.
Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.
- Audrey (formerly known as AJ): started High School, tough classes, finding Christian friends in a mostly LDS community.
- Strengthening Dan and Erin's marriage, physical and emotional health
- Dan Sleep: a solution to extreme Restless Leg Syndrome. I need sleep!
- 1/3 of our group moved away this past summer, and we have a new crop of amazing...but fairly new regular attenders. Pray for community, strong Christian leadership, love, and grace.
- Pray specifically for both of the above retreats... that people would connect with Jesus!
- Perhaps you husbands and Fathers will join us in memorizing those verses! Text/ email me if you do so I can pray for you.
