We give you thanks, O God,
for all the saints who ever worshiped you
Whether in brush arbors or cathedrals,
Weathered wooden churches
or crumbling cement meeting houses
Where your name was lifted and adored.
We give you thanks, O God,
for hands lifted in praise:
Manicured hands and hands stained
with grease or soil,
Strong hands and those gnarled
with age Holy hands
Used as wave offerings across the land.
We thank you, God,
for hardworking saints;
Whether hard-hatted or steel-booted,
Head ragged or aproned,
Blue-collared or three-piece-suited
They left their mark on the earth for you,
for us, for our children to come.
Thank you, God, for the tremendous sacrifices
made by those who have gone before us.
Bless the memories of your saints, God.
May we learn how to walk wisely
from their examples of faith,
dedication, worship, and love.
VETERANS SUNDAY
We observe Veterans Sunday on this 22nd Sunday after Pentecost, remembering the men and women who serve and served to protect America and our freedom, and the freedom of others. The Holman Choir will lead us in the ministry of music, and Rev. Paul A. Hill will bring the message.
We gather together in worship to lift praises to our God, giving thanks for these brave men and women who served and sacrificed on our behalf.
"WE REMEMBER OUR DEPARTED" Meredith Barrett Wilkins places a rose in the vase as the roll of remembrance is read, honoring our Holman members who have transitioned to the great cloud of witnesses since November 2018.
The E-Ringer is the electronic edition of the BellRinger, Holman UMC's Church Newsletter. It is a weekly publication. For questions regarding the E-Ringer e-mail us at holman@holmanumc.com.
