On Tuesday, October 15, 2019, a letter was distributed to ask local leaders to produce an action plan for bringing Economic Development to New Orleans East. A petition was also distributed with the letter so that residents could show their support for the letter by adding their names.

A New Home for City Hall
Could New Orleans East provide the solution?
 
Mayor LaToya Cantrell is looking for a new location for City Hall, due to the current condition of the existing building. Municipal Auditorium seems to be the top choice, but several months ago, during one of the many conversations about jump starting development in New Orleans East, a resident suggested to me that it would make sense for City Hall move to New Orleans East.

Orleans Parish Appreciation Days 2019

Every Wednesday, Orleans Parish residents with one proof of residency will get free admission with up to four guests to Audubon attractions. The Appreciation Days will rotate each week from the Aquarium, Butterfly Garden and Insectarium, Zoo and Planetarium (Louisiana Nature Center).

NOVEMBER 16TH ELECTION DATES

  • October 16 - Deadline to register to vote in person or by email.
  • October 26 - Deadline to register using the GeauxVote.com system provided by the Secretary of State.
  • November 2 to November 9 - Early voting from 8:30am- 6pm, every day except Sunday, November 3 (closed).
  • November 12 - Deadline to request an absentee by mail ballot is 4:30pm, other than military and overseas voters. You can request an absentee ballot on GeauxVote.com on-line or by written request to your registrar of voters.
  • November 15 - Deadline for your parish registrar of voters to receive a voted mail ballot is 4:30pm, except for military and overseas voters.
  • November 16 - Vote at your regular polling place between 7:00am- 8:00pm, and remind your friends about voting!
