Welcome to the Roller Skate Life Newsletter November 2019.

This newsletter is presented by the Es Quint Foundation, powered by Quadsk8 International and supported by Ginger Skates.

Thank you for supporting our goals and activities. In case you just joined in, welcome on board and may your journey through life be a soulful one!

You are not what you do, you are what you learn!

The year 2019 really feels like the Olympic 100m sprint. So many things have happened, with multiple conscious and subconscious learning moments; good news, sad news, great news; one door closes, another one opens.

Also, our insane workethics are really starting to pay off in a very broad sense. More and more people feel comfortable in consulting our little trainer crew, to confide in their struggles with balance, in other areas of their lives.

Often times, the way a person deals with physical balance issues, can be a good indicator of how one goes about dissolving problematic situations in general.
The results of analyzing what needs to be done, in order to complete a pattern, clear a technique or tweak a certain motion, can be used as metaphors to develop insight and strategies.

On wheels, balance disturbance can be caused internally (poor judgement, insufficient correction, etc) or externally (another person coming at you, obstacles in your way, energy around you out of sync, etc).
Either way, you will swing out of balance, take a hit, or fall down.
In daily life, it`s practically the same.

But what happens then and there, does not have to define you. Sure, the brain takes a snapshot and stores it at your inconvenience, making your life and perception of it way more complicated than necessary.
But there are certainly ways to hack your brain and create new neural pathways filled with self confidence and productive self esteem, thus expanding your toolkit to cope with balance disturbance.

Those vital learning moments is what you bring to other areas in life and to future situations. That's how you grow and keep evolving each time a cycle is concluded.

As trainers at the Es Quint Foundation, we are fortunate to see people breaking down their personal barriers, conventions and convictions that are holding them back, on a weekly basis. As time goes on, they change, grow and improve. They come walking in with their shoulders up, a big smile and can't wait to get on the floor to jam it all out.
It's very interesting to see how people develop personal preferences and how they discuss and engage into in-sync and sparring sessions in the most unexpected combinations. If they'd met in other daily life circumstances, they would probably have no reason or intention to interact at all and stay unaware of the good energy that could be.

So challenge, control, improve and improvise! That's how you build layer upon layer upon layer, taking them all with you as you travel through life.
As for 2019, we can still add some.
So, let's go!

LAST ROLLERSKATE TRAINING SESSION OF 2019
Thursday, December 19.

That's right!

And we have come a long way since those idiots 40 years ago, demolishing disco records in a Chicago baseball stadium, during Disco Demolition Night (12 July 1979).
The whole ordeal eventually turning into a riot, was the ultimate cue for definitely pushing any and everything even remotely sounding like `Disco`, underground.
And guess what?
It gave vision, essence and power to her little brother, HOUSE music!

Due to many requests and questions about our music choice and availibilty on the current popular platform Spotify, we have decided to compile playlists of our most favourite, memorable and meaningful roller skate grooves, in different genres.

The first one in publication is the
Discotheque Playlist. Stay tuned on the GrooveRider Spotify account for upcoming add-ons and fill-ups.

In the meanwhile, enjoy these grooves and make sure to put some oogie in that boogie, baby!

Kids Roll Power going Philosophidelic!

Perhaps one of the most intriguing questions of 2019, was asked during one of the Saturday morning Kids Roll Power sessions:
"If you were a fish, how would you skate?"

Well these young, bright kids didn't fool around and took the philosophical lane right away!
And after a short but deep deliberation, they all impressed the trainer and everyone else watching this magical situation unfold, with their fantastic ideas.

At this age, their colourful brains - not burdened yet with preoccupative adult stuff - seem to work faster than the speed of light.
It is a privilege to see them evolve and improve from up close, on a regular basis.

Update

As we have already received a lot of messages, about what seems to be conflicting information on our regular February event and the Amsterdam Skate Event 2020, here's a little clarification:

Our Riffs & Routines event will be fully and totally in the Hague at Es Quint Foundation headquarters, as usual!!!!
The only formal crossing point with the Amsterdam Skate Event 2020, is on Saturday Night at Poppodium Duycker. This is also the main feature where the collaboration is initally based on.

Our upcoming registration link will only provide booking for the Riffs & Routines Roller Skate Seminar February 2020, with the Saturday Night Special included.

2020 Sneak peek!

Brighton UK Spring Roll Call.

The guerilla division of the Es Quint Foundation is planning to drop some groove warriors overseas for a Soulful Jam. Details are still in process and will determine the scope of the event, from just a short and simple recon mission to a full blown mini seminar!
Probable date so far: last weekend of March 2020.
