Watershed Restoration Field Day in Waiheʻe Valley

Join us for a morning in Waiheʻe where we will be contributing to an ongoing plant restoration project being led by the Koʻolau Mountain Watershed Partnership. The KMWP team will provide demos of different techniques they use in the field to eliminate and remove albizia and fiddlewood, two problematic invasive trees species common to the area. Weʻll hear from Oʻahu Resource Conservation and Development Council on conservation planning and watershed restoration, and use the remaining time for hands-on invasive plant species removal.
Space is limited.  Please register to save your seat.

Waimānalo Stream Restoration Update

Volunteers came out to the Yogarden farm this month to help clear invasive plants, as the first phase of a stream restoration project in the Waimānalo Watershed. The farm will continue this work to remove invasives and make room for native and canoe species plantings to stabilize the stream bank. These efforts work to conserve soil and water resources by reducing erosion and increasing infiltration of runoff. We look forward to more restoration progress like this in the Waimānalo Watershed, step by step!

2020 Hawaiʻi Climate Conference

January 13-14, 2020
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Hā o ke kai literally means the breath of the sea, and more poetically, that we are one with the ocean, and go where it takes us—in this case, towards pioneering a response to climate change challenges that lie before us in Hawaii.  This conference addresses what it will take to make Hawaii “climate ready” and the role of the State, its Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission, and its many partners.
