In The Loop

The mass shooting you never heard of in California, Mo.

One shooter left four people dead 28 years ago. The town has moved on. It's evidence of the countless ways people overcome the unseen scars of tragedy.

Four local activists who want to change the climate in Columbia

Columbia is full of voices and activists trying to change things for the better. Here are four of those many: different ages, different walks of life and one passion – saving the earth.

Other things we're talking about...

  • HBO's 'Watchmen' mixes modernity with the surreal. Our writer says "It's a is a strange and complicated remix that has held to the original comic’s legacy."
  • Climate change. Fall is getting warmer, and not because of extra hot lattes. September experienced the hottest temperatures on record since 1887; a month later, it snowed.
  • Arcade mogul Nic Parks. With ventures like Silverball and the Arcade at Columbia Mall, Parks is gaming his way all the way to the bank.
Here's Leonardo reminding you of all you've accomplished this week. Cheers to the weekend.
