When The Normal Heart debuted at New York City’s Public Theater in 1985, it became the longest-running show in the venue’s history. The drama by playwright Larry Kramer struck a chord by addressing the AIDS crisis in America head-on, calling out individuals and institutions for their apathy toward the epidemic. The University of Vermont Department of Theatre presents the story of activist Ned Weeks — a character based on Kramer — as he fights to awaken the world to the seriousness of the disease. Representatives from Vermont Cares, a nonprofit working for Vermonters affected by HIV/AIDS, are on hand with information about their services. The organization’s executive director Peter Jacobsen participates in a talk-back following Thursday’s performance.

I love how folks opposed to change always set up groups or organizations with the name "Friends" in the title... so that anybody pushing for changes or improvements are somehow the enemy, or unfriendly. #btv https://t.co/qAhhBcalvo

Dave's Corner 💭
One of my favorite shows premiered for its seventh season on Tuesday night, The Curse of Oak Island. It's a reality show about a bunch of middle-aged guys looking for treasure on a small island off the coast of Nova Scotia. It doesn't matter whether or not they find it, because the show is really about the search. Believe it or not, it's the highest rated non-scripted show on cable. Check it out, Tuesdays at 9 PM on the History Channel.

It seems like every year we have projects that drag on for literally months that are done aside from the line striping. We are at the mercy of contractors for vital safety information here. Why don't we just buy our own equipment so that we can actually complete projects start to finish in a reasonable time frame???
