1.  Plans for LEGOLAND Shanghai substantiated - but not opening before 2023

Merlin Entertainments has finalized its plans to build LEGOLAND Shanghai through an agreement with Shanghai Jinshan District Government, CMC Inc. and KIRKBI. However, the opening of LEGOLAND Shanghai is not planned before 2023.

2.  Cedar Fair Announces 2019 Third-Quarter Results and Reports Record Performance for Its First 10 Months

SANDUSKY, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cedar Fair Entertainment Company (NYSE: FUN), a leader in regional amusement parks, water parks and immersive entertainment, today announced results for the third quarter ended September 29, 2019, and record year-to-date performance trends through November 3, 2019. 8.  Genting Malaysia reports revenue rise despite theme park delay

Genting Malaysia has announced that Q219 net profit rose 3.5 percent year-on- year, hitting $98.7m, a result of group revenue rising 7.4 percent to $620m.  The casino operator noted its Malaysian leisure and hospitality business alone saw a ten percent growth in revenue to $420m during the period, despite declines at its flagship site Resorts World Genting, in Kuala Lumpur.

9.  Daytona Beach roller coaster involved in accident now gone

A Daytona Beach roller coaster that went off the rails more than a year ago in Daytona Beach is now gone.  The site of the Sand Blaster is sitting empty.  The accident severely injured six people, causing the coaster to never reopen.

10.  Parc Asterix reveals new attractions

Parc Asterix will open an all new “secret” roller coaster and will refurbish one of its existing coasters.  Though details of the new ride are being kept under wraps, the park’s deputy managing director Guy Vassel said: “In 2022 we will add a secret new roller coaster and that will be our biggest attraction investment ever.”

11.  Sawmill Creek Resort will be closed for renovations until mid-2020

The park operator Cedar Fair of the American theme park Cedar Point bought the nearby, millionaire Sawmill Creek Resort. From early November 2019 to mid-2020, reconstruction work is planned to keep the resort closed.

I was greatly inspired by those fun street parties.”

14.  FLORIDA MAN ACCUSED OF GROPING DISNEY PRINCESS AT MAGIC KINGDOM THEME PARK

A registered sex offender has been arrested on suspicion of groping a woman dressed as a Disney character at the Magic Kingdom in the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.  Brian Sherman, 51, of Orlando, Florida, was arrested following an incident at the theme park after he posed for pictures with Disney characters on Saturday, November 2.

15.  Witness tried scaling theme park fence to save Evha, 11

A MOTHER has told an inquest how she tried to climb a barrier to rescue a ‘panicking’ 11-year-old girl who fell from a river rapids ride and drowned at Drayton Manor theme park.  Theresa Atkinson was standing on the viewing platform with her son in a pushchair when she saw Evha Jannath ‘propelled’ from a circular six-seater Splash Canyon vessel.

16.  Millionaire Lotto winner took £10-an-hour job at Flamingo Land theme park after being turned down for 10 jobs

A MILLIONAIRE Lotto winner took a £10-a-job at Flamingo Land after being turned down from 10 roles.  Hard-working Alex Best, 23, did the sound for the shows at the theme park to help further his career in music event production.

17.  Efteling wants to equip parking lot with 23,000 square meter solar roof

Efteling submitted a license application for a carport in autumn 2019. On the one hand, the roof is intended to provide guests with parking comfort and, on the other hand, equipped with solar collectors, they also have an environmentally friendly benefit.

18.  Theme park drew water illegally from Ajwa line

Vadodara: AATAPI Wonderland theme park, where a child died recently after drowning in a tank inside a pump room, is mired in a controversy for altogether different reasons now.  It has come to light that the theme park was illegally drawing water through a six-inch water pipeline by connecting it with main line from Ajwa reservoir that water to the city.

1.  Universal’s Volcano Bay electrical shock happened because of construction errors, OSHA finds

Mistakes made during the construction of Volcano Bay led to electrical problems that shocked Universal lifeguards and visitors in June, according to a new federal investigation that gives a deeper account into what happened.  OSHA, the federal agency that investigates workplace safety, released its findings late Monday and concluded Universal was not aware of the problems, so the company shouldn’t be fined. Nobody was seriously injured at the water park, which opened in May 2017.

A water park jointly owned by the City of Fort Smith and Sebastian County now has the former's support going into the new year.  The Fort Smith Board of Directors decided during its meeting Tuesday to approve a resolution indicating support and authorization of the proposed 2020 operating budget for Parrot Island Waterpark, as well as supporting participation in the expansion of the park that year.

The Cameron Park Zoo will start its waddle toward big improvements after voters approved a $14.5 million bond Tuesday that will pay for an expansion that includes a South African black-footed penguin exhibit and other upgrades.

2.  CFG Bank owner donates $3M to advance National Aquarium's waterfront project

Jack Dwyer is sick of hearing about what's wrong with Baltimore.  The local businessman decided to channel his frustration with negative headlines by trying to change the narrative. Dwyer has donated $3 million to the National Aquarium to help advance a long-awaited project to build a waterfront campus between Piers 3 and 4 of the Inner Harbor featuring floating wetlands and terraces.

3.  Copenhagen Zoo's giant pandas have settled into their BIG-designed enclosure

Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) have released images of Copenhagen Zoo's giant pandas settling into its completed yin-yang-shaped enclosure.  Construction of the Panda House began in 2017 and earlier this year it became home to Mao Sun and Xing Er, who are being loaned from China to Denmark.

Admission to Hogle Zoo will be free on Wednesdays in November and December, a “thank you to Salt Lake County residents for the ZAP program,” according to zoo officials.  Hogle Zoo receives about $2.2 million per year from the Zoo, Arts and Park Program. The voter-approved tax — which adds a penny to every $10 purchase in the county — helps fund more than 200 nonprofit organizations.

6.  Budget cuts prompt Little Rock Zoo to close 2 days a week through February

The Little Rock Zoo will close two days a week from now until February in response to budget cuts from the city, officials said Tuesday.  Zoo Director Susan Altrui said the city made overall cuts to its budget in June that included a $92,000 annual cut for the zoo.

A proposal that could generate money to move the Sacramento Zoo to Natomas is being postponed.  On Tuesday night, some Sacramento City Council members expressed concerns about dedicating money to a project before it’s formally introduced.

9.  Demand for Christmas event at Lincoln Children's Zoo crashes ticket site

At 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, tickets went on sale for the Lincoln Children's Zoo's newest Christmas event – Zoo Lights Powered by LES.  It's clear people are excited for the event, as the zoo's ticket site crashed.  The zoo says due to overwhelming demand they are experiencing technical difficulties and ticket purchasing has been temporarily closed.

10.  Clearwater aquarium names former NFL exec and collegiate athletic director its new CFO

Clearwater Marine Aquarium has named Richard "Dick" Regan its new chief financial officer.  In his new role, Regan will be responsible for all financial aspects of CMA. He will lead the aquarium’s accounting and finance functions, including budgeting and long-term financial planning, contract negotiations and relations with financial partners.
