⭐️ Star Baker
Get ready for some of the most delicious baked goods on the East Coast — Tatte Bakery & Café, the ultra-popular bakeshop from Massachusetts, is opening in DC this spring. Known for its Middle Eastern influence and modern aesthetic, the decor and menu are worth the ’gram. Once it officially arrives, you’ll want to try a vegetarian Cheese Boureka, the gluten-free Maple, Squash, and Chicken Salad, and the local, fresh, and seasonal shakshukas. And don’t worry, we’ll let you know the opening date as soon as we find out.

💦 Pure Potomac
Soon, you’ll have another place to plié your way through your sweat sesh. Boutique barre chain Pure Barre is expanding, opening another DMV location in Potomac any day now. If you haven’t tried this full-body workout yet, you’re in for some crazy muscle burn! The one-hour class infuses traditional ballet movements and small weights to lift and tone all over. Who knew a low-impact workout could cause such a serious case of shaky legs?

🍂 Autumn Eats
The chilly weather has us craving all the fall flavors — thank goodness HipCityVeg has brought back this winning combo: Quinoa Chili and Sweet Potato Fries capped off with a Pumpkin Pie Shake. But that’s just the start. It looks like Beefsteak also got the message because the Beet Burger is back! Wherever you choose to go for a veggie-filled, seasonal bite, share it with us by tagging @fittdc.

🥊 A Real Knockout
One BASH just wasn’t enough! BASH Boxing in Ballston is finally open and ready to put you to work. Their signature HIIT workout splits the class between combos on their Aqua training bags and strength training on the floor. Secure a bag and start perfecting that one-two punch at the new location on Randolph St. or at the studio in Rosslyn.

😎 Gangster Grub
Riverdale Park, Maryland is about to get some new life. Baltimore-based healthy eatery Gangster Vegan Organics is making its debut in the neighborhood in January 2020, right beneath Bikram Yoga Works. Get ready for delicious, hip-hop-inspired plates full of plants. We know you’ll have fun sippin’ on a Soul 4 Real smoothie and lunchin’ on the Ay Papi burrito bowl, all made with organic ingredients sourced from right here in the US!

🚲 Saddle Up!
If you’ve been wanting to try out a cycling class but feel a little intimidated now that it’s become such a big trend, we get it. Luckily, you can head over to CYCLED! Silver Spring this Saturday for an open house and all-access pass to the ins and outs of cycling. You’ll get to meet the team, learn how to set up a bike, find out how to clip in (and out!), get some advice on proper form, and then put it all to good use in a high-energy group class. You’ll be a pro in no time!

💛 Local Love
Food incubator Pendleton Carryout Co. knows soup season is in full force and they’re here to help us take advantage. Yep — the shop that helps get emerging local food brands off the ground is now selling vegan, gluten-free soups and stews from 100 Bowls. Choose between the Moroccan Stew, Thai Sweet Potato Curry, or Curry Lentil, all packed with plant-based, organic ingredients. Spoons at the ready!

🏓 Pickleball Is Poppin’ Off
We love a good pick-up football game, but when it comes to social sports, there’s one in particular that we can’t stop playing. We’re talking about pickleball, and if you haven’t tried it already, you’re missing out. It takes everything you love about tennis, badminton, and ping pong and combines it into one highly-competitive, adrenaline-fueled matchup. So, after you get hooked up with gear from GAMMA Sports, rally the crew and find the nearest court — we’ve got a feeling this is about to become your go-to weekend activity.

2019 DC Half and Half
The annual DC Half and Half is back! Instead of refueling with bananas and water stations, this half-marathon challenges you to down a half smoke with chips at the midpoint! Run 6.55 miles, then make a pitstop at Ben’s Chili Bowl in Arlington where you’ll be greeted with a basket of Ben’s half smoke with chili. Once you show your clean basket, you’re on your way to complete another 6.55 miles to the finish line.
