Notes to Self
 


Another thankfulness idea! Find a special, cool looking jar. Don't have one? Try a thrift store. They often have lots of glass items just waiting to be repurposed. Every morning write out something you are truly grateful for and put it in the jar. (Read the last edition for ideas.) Benefits?
  • Watch them accumulate as a visual reminder
  • Pick one to read before bed
  • Read through them when you need a lift
  • Create a ceremony, at the end of the year, month, or week, to
  • Celebrate all your good fortune as you clear the jar and make room for more.
Of course, a gratitude notebook is a great idea, too. Every night or once a week, write out one or more things that have inspired a grateful heart. But go beyond noting a deed, person, or place and include the why and how it made you feel. Get into the emotions of it, because those warm and fuzzy feelings release good feeling chemicals into your body and then you get to feel warm and fuzzy all over again.  =)

 

World Kindness Day - November 13

Today brings another opportunity to practice random acts of kindness AND it's happening all around the world! You may never know the effects of your kindheartedness, or if one will have a global effect, but you can know that a kind action has far-reaching results. Think of the ripples created by a pebble dropped in a pond. Imagine a world where each of those pebbles is a ball of kindness energy that simply must expand affecting everything it comes in contact with. Imagine it happening every day because it is happening. And, remember to thank others for their thoughtfulness and keep that kindness wave moving.

By the way, the more truly grateful you feel—appreciating so many aspects of your life, including what has not yet occurred!—the more kindness you will experience by more noticing, giving, and receiving.
