Faith in my pocket

We always have our smartphones with us, so that means we can also have ways to enrich our faith throughout the day. Here are my four favorite apps, in no particular order: Laudate (for daily readings, rosary and prayers), Sacred Space (for Ignatian daily reflection and prayers), Echo Prayer (to store all our personal prayers and reminders to pray daily) and Bible (from Life.Church, with Catholic Bible version available).
Try them out. Let me know what you think and what apps you recommend.

JUST ONE MINUTE

$23,008,409,564,495 (more than $23 trillion). That is the national debt, according to my Google search. The average American owes $38,000 in personal debt (not including home mortgages). Wow! What does Scripture have to say about debt? “Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another ...” (Romans 13:8) That is a pretty good debt and much easier to pay off. Who do you owe the debt of love to? I immediately think of my beloved bride, children, the students I serve, my co-workers and spiritual leaders.

Reflection: Today strive to repay the "debt" of love. Notice your thoughts and feelings at the end of the day.

St. Catherine of Alexandria

November 25
This scholarly young woman from Egypt converted to Christianity and began evangelizing others, including the wife of the pagan emperor who was persecuting Christians. She is venerated as the Great Martyr St. Catherine in the Orthodox tradition and her voice was among those heard by St. Joan of Arc.

Worth it

Teaching kids that there’s a connection between work and money is one of the best things you can do as a parent. As early as age 3 they are old enough to earn a little money doing chores.
What does money mean?

QUOTE UNQUOTE

"The Church is either on the move or she is not (the) Church. Either she evangelizes or she is not (the) Church. If the Church is not on the move, she decays, she becomes something else."
