When it's Time to Turn the Page...

One of Lucas' favourite bedtime stories is a book called, "Just Me." It's about a little girl spending the day with her aunty—and her aunty wants to know who she wants to be. Is it a pirate? A dragon-taming knight? A princess? Or maybe an astronaut? But the little girl doesn't want to be any of those things—she just wanted to be herself (and eat ice-cream, but who doesn't want to do that?!).

You're probably wondering by now why on earth I'm bothering to tell you about this story. Well, at the beginning of this year, when I took on the role of Community Manager and Bible Teacher for The Joyful Life, I prayed a simple prayer, "Lord, as this year unfolds, show me what needs to stay and what needs to go." And that's exactly what He's done for me throughout the year. 2019 has been a year of sifting through priorities and discerning what is fruitful for me and my family—and for you, my beloved readers. There have been times where I've felt like I've been floundering in uncertainty, but one thing has become increasingly clear to me: I just I want to be me.

And so it's time to turn the page and start a new chapter in my journey. I am retiring 'On Becoming Esther' (but watch out for it as a book title one day!) and switching everything over to be 'just me'—Aimée Walker. Don't worry, I'll still be popping into your inbox on a regular basis—it will just be monthly instead of weekly, with my shiny new 'Kitchen Table Seminary' newsletter (keep scrolling for more details).

I want to thank each and every one of you for making 'On Becoming Esther' what it has been these past four years. It has been an honour and a privilege to grow with you—and especially to get to meet some of you in the flesh!

I look forward to exploring this new chapter with you all.

With love,

Aimée
XOXO
God has graciously grafted me into an amazing team and vision over at The Joyful Life and I want to give both them and my family, my very best—which means honing my own vision and staying focused! So well you may see less of me, I hope every email you receive will be well worth reading!

I sometimes joke that I've been to "Kitchen Table Seminary." My journey of growing in the Word has happened amidst the beautiful chaos of family life—not apart from it. And I'm passionate about helping others to grow in their own understanding of Scripture, because as we engage with the written Word of God, we ultimately encounter the Living Word. We find Jesus in every line.

So each month, I'd like to invite you to join me at "Kitchen Table Seminary". An email will make its way to your inbox with book reviews, podcasts I'm loving, Bible Study tips, ideas for spiritual practices you can weave into your real life and encouragement from my heart to yours. All you need to do to receive it, is stay a subscriber. Easy, aye! I hope you'll be joining me at the 'table.'
