The Valley Craft Network was founded in the autumn of 1981 with a mission to provide an alternative format for a group of professional artisans in the Middletown and Pleasant Valley areas to display and market high quality arts and craft items to the public. The goal of The Valley Craft Network remains unchanged after 38 years. The annual VCN Studio Tour, held the weekend before Thanksgiving, provides an opportunity for the members to share their creations and for the public to experience an up-close view of the creative process.
The Valley Craft Network has several potential openings and is accepting applications for membership and participation in the 2020 Studio Tour, our 39th year.
Interested Artists/Artisans must:
¨ produce a professional craft or fine art.
¨ be located within the tour boundaries which are within the area bounded by Route 40, between MD Route 66 Mapleville Rd and the top of Braddock Mountain, the ridge of Braddock Mountain running south to US Route 340, US Route 340 running west to Route 67, Route 67 to Sharpsburg via Trego Rd, Mt. Briar Rd, Porterstown Rd, and Burnside Bridge Rd. Then continuing North on MD route 65 Sharpsburg Pike to Manor Church Rd to Mill Point Rd Continuing to MD Route 66 Mapleville Rd. Applicants who meet all membership requirements and are located within 4 miles of the established boundaries may be considered and approved with a member vote.
¨ submit a sampling of items produced to be juried using a set of standards appropriate to the craft/ art.
¨ meet the additional requirements as outlined in the ‘Valley Craft Network Member Application’.
¨ abide by the By-Laws of the VCN.
¨ be an active participant in all group activities.
