“Thanksgiving is a time to give, a time to love, and a time to reflect on the things that matter most in life.” – Danielle Duckery

Hello!
It has been since 2018 that I last sent an e-newsletter. With the rise of social media I had honestly thought that the e-newsletters were a thing of the past.  Apparently that is not the case. Many people like to receive and read emails that are more than a short message. I hope that you enjoy this issue.

In this e-newsletter I highlight a few projects.  A condo kitchen makeover which is a great example of how a kitchen can be remodeled within the existing space yet provide better flow, and more storage; multiple
window covering solutions are detailed in one installation; and then a dining area that incorporated a wine fridge and cabinets.

You may be aware that I have been traveling in an RV this past year. It has been great fun to travel and visit family in our motorhome. There are many advantages to traveling via motorhome, especially with dogs. Amazing smart phones, and 4G have made it possible to work anywhere. I have shared a link to our travel blog down below if you have interest in following our travels.

I usually share a recipe in the newsletter, but in this email I give a shout out to Buttercup squash, my favorite.

Thank you so much for your time in reading my newsletter. My plan is stay in better touch and put out a few emails a year. I hope you stay subscribed.

See more of my projects, cooking, and lifestyle on Instagram and / or Facebook (links below). I look forward to connecting with you.

With the holiday season upon us I like to share my tips to simplify and prepare. I share this blog post every year. If you don't want to be stressed (or less stressed) take a look.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Condo Kitchen Makeover

The before photo.

The 19080's were not great years for style and decor. In this 80's builder grade kitchen clearly there is not enough storage space because there is much stuff on the counter surface. All of the base cabinets are doors with shelves inside which are not efficient or easy to access.

The kitchen remodel complete.

Before photo

This dividing wall was a major impediment to the space in both aesthetics and flow. It had to be removed. Here is the space finished with the wall completely removed and the spaces combined as one.

After photo

There were many decisions and details that went into this project makeover. If you'd like to see more photos and see the custom solutions in this kitchen please visit my  my website to see the blog post.

Window Covering Solutions

Multiple window coverings combined for different uses.

There are many ways to cover a window. If you are looking for the best solution first ask what is the purpose of the covering or treatment. Is there a need for light control, privacy, decoration, sound absorption, some, or all of the above?

In this example I show you a multi-layer treatment for a long window wall. The desire for this space was privacy in the evening, light filtering / glare reduction during the day, and a decorative element that offers color and pattern. Even though this example is expansive you can use the concept for any size window.

What we did:
  • installed motorized black-out shades at the windows
  • installed two drapery tracks in the ceiling pocket
  • installed sheer drapery to span the entire wall
  • installed stationary drapery panels
I have overly simplified the process here. Go to my website for more photos and details.

This is a very long wall of windows.

Dining Area Improved

Years ago this kitchen and dining area was remodeled to include a complete remodel of the kitchen and new wood flooring throughout the main living space. For years a vintage mid-century modern server worked to satisfy the needs of this family. Move forward a few years with a grand-baby on the way it was clear that the family's vacation home was going to get busier. The vintage server was replaced with a wall of cabinetry and Sub-Zero wine and beverage refrigerator. This takes a bit of pressure off of the kitchen and provides a secondary space for entertaining / hosting needs. Read more.

RV Travel + Lifestyle

This is our "mobile condo / office"

We purchased a Class C motorhome a year ago. It has been great fun! My husband and I are both self-employed and we have dogs so traditional travel and vacations are tough to fit in or plan months ahead of time. The motorhome is a way to travel with all our dogs and our mobile offices. Technology has made it possible to literally work anywhere, and we also use it to travel to my husband's work assignments. If you would like to read more about how w mix work and travel visit our blog post

Squash Harvest

Buttercup squash is my most favorite squash. It is similar to Butternut but more dense and rich. I like to roast it after I scoop and save the seeds. The seeds are worth the effort to roast. Soak them in water overnight, dry off and remove as many squash strings as possible, cover a baking sheet with olive oil and spread seeds, add salt. Mix around and then place in oven around 200 degrees and let them roast slowly. The finished seeds should be crunchy. When done they taste like popcorn. They are great source of magnesium. Click here to read the benefits of soaking seeds and nuts.

Thank you all for your continued business and interest in my design ideas and tips. I'd appreciate it if you referred me to a friend or two by forwarding this email and suggest that they sign-up for my e-newsletters. I truly thank you.
