A Members-only Call 
Arts Network Ottawa MEMBERS HOLIDAY MARKETPLACE 

From Nov. 8th to December 22nd, Arts Network Ottawa will be showcasing the talent of our many Members in our Exhibition Space. We want to feature visual artists, artisans, photographers, fibre artists and any other artistic categories our Membership represents.

If you would like to have your work featured, please submit an email application briefly describing the artwork, physical dimensions, a price list (all items up for exhibit should be available for sale), along with visual support materials.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • 2D and 3D visual artwork, artisan work, fibre, jewelry, woodwork, glass: all work needs to be "display ready"
  • Media-based works (ex. CD)

Please submit your application by Friday, Nov. 1th at 5pm to alex@artsnetottawa.ca. Selected Members will be notified to bring in the artwork on Nov. 6th to be installed by Nov. 8th.

There is no charge to apply, however Arts Network Ottawa will retain a 5% commission on all pieces sold.

Du 8 novembre au 22 décembre, le Réseau artistique Ottawa présentera le talent de nos nombreux membres dans l’Espace d’exposition! Nous souhaitons mettre en valeur nos membres : artistes visuels, photographes, artistes de fibres et toute autre catégorie représentant nos membres.

Si vous souhaitez que votre travail soit présenté, veuillez envoyer une soumission par courriel décrivant brièvement l’œuvre, ses dimensions physiques, une liste de prix (toutes les œuvres soumises doivent être disponible à la vente), ainsi que des supports visuels pour ces œuvres.

NOUS RECHERCHONS:

  • Œuvres visuelles 2D et 3D, artisanat, fibre, bijouterie, menuiserie, verre : tout le travail doit être "prêt pour l'installation"
  • Œuvres médiatiques (ex. disques compactes)

Veuillez soumettre votre candidature avant le vendredi 1er Nov. à 17h à alex@artsnetottawa.ca. Les membres sélectionnés seront informés d’apporter leurs œuvres le 6 novembre et celles-ci seront installés dès le 8 novembre.

Il n'y a pas de frais d'inscription, mais le Réseau des arts d'Ottawa retiendra une commission de 5 % sur toutes les pièces vendues.

This annual gathering event celebrates community-engaged arts in the Ottawa region: bringing together community builders and artists, delegates from local community arts initiatives, grass-roots organizations and community partners. Made possible through the generous financial support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Ottawa Community Foundation, the gathering will feature panel discussions on accessibility and empowerment in community arts as well as interactive presentations and hands-on workshops and activities.

The Community Arts Gathering aims to provide community-engaged project and career growth insight for both community groups and emerging artists, as well as programming development tools for community partners interested in collaborating with local artists.

Arts des quartiers d'Ottawa: Rassemblement des arts communautaires d'Ottawa

Ce rassemblement annuel célèbre les arts engagés communautaires dans la région d’Ottawa : il réunira des bâtisseurs et des artistes communautaires, des délégués d’initiatives artistiques communautaires locales, des organismes et partenaires communautaires. Grâce au généreux soutien financier de la Fondation Trillium de l’Ontario et de la Fondation communautaire d’Ottawa, la rencontre comprendra des tables rondes sur l’accessibilité et l’autonomisation dans les arts communautaires ainsi que des présentations interactives et des ateliers et activités pratiques.

Le Rassemblement des arts communautaires vise à fournir aux groupes communautaires et aux artistes en début de carrière des renseignements sur les projets communautaires et la croissance professionnelle, ainsi que des outils de développement de programmes pour les partenaires communautaires intéressés à collaborer avec des artistes locaux.

subDevision - a one of a kind theatrical experience in the heart of an epic party

A great opportunity to meet local artists, grow your network, and get a free backstage pass to all the action. subDevision runs November 14th, 15th and 16th, with a dress rehearsal on the 13th.  Email our Production Manager at boyesmanseau@gmail.com to sign up.

For this year’s Open House, SPAO will be highlighting the unions that can exist between photo and text with the official debut of SPAO's newly completed photo book library and second floor expansion.

To celebrate, SPAO will be hosting a Book Market where visitors can view and purchase publications created by members of SPAO’s extended community. Visitors will also be able to see work by current diploma students and learn about the SPAO Centre’s programming. Speeches and special announcements will take place at 7 pm.

Angela Verlaeckt Clark was intrigued and excited to discover 450 - 500 million year old fossil stromatolites along the Ottawa River a few years ago. They are rare in such abundance and these fossils became a source of inspiration for her new series in warm glass. Colour confidence is everywhere in Angela Verlaeckt Clark's new collection.

Festival Awesome Arts Festival 2019
Friday, November 15, 2019, 6 PM – 9 PM

The MASC Awesome Arts program and festival is a community engaged arts project that allows participants of all ages to explore issues important to their community through the arts. Held in partnership with the Sandy Hill CHC / CSC Côte-de-sable, this latest Awesome Arts program offered an exciting series of workshops to over 175 residents in Sandy Hill. Participants collaborated with the professional artists to create stop motion animation videos, songs, choreographies and music videos all the while exploring issues important to them and their community. This Awesome Arts Festival will bring the community together for an evening of celebration during which the participants will share their creations. The Festival will also feature professional artists, inspiring the entire community to remain connected with the arts and the issues. Prepare to be inspired!
 
This program was supported by City of Ottawa, Ottawa Community Foundation and an Articipate Project Grant stewarded by Arts Network Ottawa / Réseau des arts d'Ottawa.

Festival Awesome Arts Festival 2019

Festival Awesome Arts Festival 2019 est un programme d’engagement communautaire. Ce programme enrichissant permet aux résidents d’une communauté d'explorer les enjeux importants pour eux à travers les arts tout en créant des liens, en brisant l’isolement et en incitant les gens à s’impliquer d’une manière positive dans leur quartier. MASC offre Festival Awesome Arts Festival 2019 en partenariat avec les programmes scolaires, les organismes et les centres communautaires. Le format consiste en une série d'ateliers qui culminent en une célébration publique. En participant aux ateliers de Festival Awesome Arts Festival 2019, les participants s'expriment au moyen de différentes formes d'art comme la poésie slam, les animations vidéo, la musique, le théâtre et la danse. À la suite de ces ateliers, les participants de Festival Awesome Arts Festival 2019 partagent leurs talents lors d’un spectacle gratuit pour la communauté qui met également en vedette des artistes professionnels. Festival Awesome Arts Festival 2019 est une source d’inspiration pour toute la communauté et permet à celle-ci de tisser des liens entre les résidents à travers les arts.

Ce programme a reçu l'appui de la Ville d'Ottawa, de la Fondation communautaire d'Ottawa et d'une subvention de projet artistique gérée par le Réseau des arts d'Ottawa / Arts Network Ottawa.

Rainbow New Beginnings, a LGBTQ refugee sponsorship group, is hosting a fundraiser at the ByTowne Cinema with a film called Fireflies (Luciérnagas), a feature film about a gay Iranian man who accidentaly ends up in Veracruz, Mexico. Rainbow New Beginnings is in the process of gathering funds to support an LGBTQ individual from the Middle East in Ottawa and to help a LGBTQ family from the Middle East come to Canada.

Are you an artist, designer, photographer, or musician who lives or works in Vanier? If so, Apt613, City of Ottawa Community Arts & Social Engagement, and SAW Gallery would like to hear from you! Over the next few months we’ll be doing workshops, small projects, and community activities in the Vanier area that will need your help.

We will be considering artist availability within the project timeline (November 2019 – February 2020) and seeking to include a diverse representation of Vanier’s unique and specific cultural communities.

Arts Build Ontario: Announcing the Creative Spaces Online Training Series!

ArtsBuild Ontario is excited to share our Creative Spaces Online Training Series! Designed to support arts managers in building the core skills necessary to support capital projects and ongoing operations in creative spaces, this series features four online modules. Delivered by topic experts working in the sector, each module focuses on a topic areas identified as the most integral to capital projects by ABO’s network of 2,500+ arts organizations.

Module #1: Strategic Planning and Partnerships, November 14, 2019

In the first training module, participants will be introduced to concepts that support individual core competencies and their organization’s efforts in planning for capital projects at their facilities. Frameworks for partnership development in local communities will also be explored.

This workshop will teach you everything you need to know to hand process your own black and white film negative. Topics covered include an introduction to film: what it is and how it works, darkroom safety, the process for B&W negative development, chemistry mixing, Lomo tank and bucket hand processing, transferring film negative to a digital format.

After this workshop, you will have the necessary skills to use IFCO’s darkroom and equipment to hand process your own black and white exposed film and telecine transfer the negative to a digital file.

WHAT’S UP DOC! DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKING WORKSHOP

The Documentary Filmmaking Workshop is designed to introduce the members to how documentary films are made. Students will be given a step-by-step look at how documentaries are put together. Various styles of documentary filmmaking will be discussed, with excerpts of films shown to demonstrate the different styles of filmmaking. The course will be a practical guide to documentary filmmaking. Included in the workshop will be discussions about interviewing, release forms, festivals and more.

Members are encouraged to have an idea for a documentary film that they would like to make to discuss with the instructor. Students should also bring a list of questions to ask the instructor about documentary filmmaking.
