To support small Irish businesses to enhance their online trading presence. TRADING ONLINE VOUCHERS to the value of €2,500 (50% of eligible costs up to the maximum of €2,500) are now available through a programme under the National Digital Strategy funded through the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources and delivered through the Local Enterprise Office. 

To be eligible to apply you have to have:

• a limited online trading presence;

• less than 10 employees;

• turnover less than €2million;

• be registered in County Wicklow;

• trading for minimum of 6 months; 

• and attended a Trading Online Voucher seminar.

Whether you are currently running a business, or are at the start-up stage you can meet with advisors from  Local Enterprise Office Wicklow to discuss your business. 

Appointments are available at weekly advisory clinics held at our premises in Rathnew, and the Glenview Hotel. These meetings are free of charge, one-to-one and completely confidential.

Currently advice clinics are as follows:

• Monday evenings in the Glenview Hotel:  6pm; 7pm or 8pm
• Tuesday mornings at our premises in Rathnew: 10am; 11am or 12noon
• Thursday mornings at our premises in Rathnew: 9.30am; 10.30am or 11.30am
• Thursday the 7th of November and Thursday the 5th of December in Blessington: 10am, 11am, or 12noon

The ‘Technical Assistance for Micro Exporters’ (TAME) grant is available through all Local Enterprise Offices to help more small businesses in Ireland develop products and services that will unlock export markets.

This grant can cover up to 50% of qualifying expenditure, up to a maximum of €2,500 (excluding VAT).  The grant is designed to help micro enterprises explore, develop and unlock new overseas markets for their products and services, within Europe and beyond.

The Technical Assistance for Micro Exporters grant can help part-fund the costs of:

• Exhibiting at international Trade Fairs (stand rental costs etc)
• Developing export-focused websites and marketing materials and the translation of these materials into foreign languages, to communicate directly with new target audiences overseas.
• Investigating new ways and processes to develop export business, such as setting up a new business model or fulfilling non-regulatory technical requirements.

With a #BrexitExtension being granted until the 31st of January 2020 there is more time for businesses to prepare.

Local Enterprise Office Wicklow is running further Prepare Your Business for Customs Workshops on the 18/11/2019 and 03/12/2019 in Wicklow County Campus, Rathnew. This workshop enables companies to understand both Revenue rules in Ireland and HMRC rules in the UK and will also cover the post Brexit simplifications being introduced by both Authorities and how to apply for these.

There are also spaces available for free one-to-one Brexit Mentoring on the 03/12/2019.

A useful exercise for any business to complete the Brexit Scorecard and read through the Brexit Preparedness Checklists which will help assess what risks your business faces with respect to customs, other controls, supply chain, product certification, cashflow and currency and how to develop a plan to maintain and grow in the UK market.
