Greetings Camp Friends!

I most recently wrote to you about the auction (what fun that was!) and before that, about summer camp, staffing, and climbing shoes.  A big thanks to those of you who bought climbing shoes for campers.  We received 7 more pairs.  Check below to find the link to the current list of climbing shoes needed.  I raise this again because we'd like to round out our sizing, and because hopefully this winter, we will complete the indoor climbing wall which will really finish out the pavilion nicely!

On the topic of staffing, we recently put together this video to send out to supporting churches because we are working to update the way we do the church part of camp (Jumpstart and Fireside).  The update will include new training for counselors on how to share their faith throughout the daily routine of camp as most campers are impacted notably, and in some cases significantly, by their counselor.  Patrick "Rupert" Graber wrote about how this looks in his blog post, and in the video below, I share how a recent camper saw Christ through her counselors' joy.  Of course this makes the counselor role as important as ever.  Please take a look at the video and as you watch, be thinking of young people in your life who might make great camp staff this winter and this coming summer.

Thanks for your ongoing support and interest in Bethany Birches and the important work that happens here.
Sincerely,
Brandon "Tuna" Bergey
Executive Director

p.s. for those of you in PA we're working on a little gathering most likely happening Nov 10 in the evening (Souderton area).  Let me know if you're interested.  We'll send an invite shortly.
When the new pavilion was constructed a few years ago we made sure to take advantage of the awesome chimney in multiple ways.  It doubles as a climbing wall!  Campers really enjoy learning to climb and strengthening their bodies and trust in their counselors.  We could really use a fleet of rock climbing shoes to make this experience complete.  Check out the buy list.

Two years ago we installed a wood boiler to serve the heating needs of the new pavilion.  Last year, we ran that into the cabin as well.  This helps us greatly reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. We need some help finishing out the wood supply for next winter.  Let me know if you can come cut some wood!

Each year many campers benefit from our unique tier pricing program.  Essentially, this program allows those with financial need to afford camp.  It is also convenient in that families can know how to budget for camp year over year.  This year we will need to raise something like $70,000 toward those subsidies.  Will you help get a kid to camp?

The list of supporters who give automatic monthly is growing.  Would you consider doing this?  It could be $10 or $20 or $200.  Whatever suits your budget will be a big win for the campers.
