Forward Forward

Dear parents,

For the past few weeks our Junior Church lessons have been focused on close reading of the Bible. Last week, to improve comprehension, we created Bible dictionaries to make note of the new words (Pharisee, Commandment, Law, etc.) that we come across each week.

Please continue to encourage your children to complete their junior church homework, which is given to them weekly in their workbooks. I won’t assign anything for this week so that those who are behind have a chance to catch up. My hope is that these assignments, which involve a short Bible reading followed by a simple activity sheet, will help the children see the importance of exploring and practising their faith outside of Junior Church.

November 3
This coming Sunday is a Blessing Sunday. After church I am inviting families connected with Junior Church to attend a meeting after church to discuss our vision for the program, share ideas and to gauge interest in roles for parents volunteers. The meeting will begin at 12:15 and last about an hour.
Lunch will be provided, location to be confirmed. Please RSVP to children@stolaves.ca so that we can plan food quantities. And don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions.

November 10
Next week we will be joined by the Guides and Scouts who meet at St. Olave’s as part of our Remembrance Day commemorations.

It’s hard to believe but Advent is fast approaching (December 1!).
Nativity Play rehearsals will begin November 24. Please let me know if your child(ren) will be able to participate. Until then, we will continue following the readings in the Book of Common Prayer, which are focused on themes of thanksgiving and forgiveness.

Looking forward to seeing you all this Sunday,

Martha
