Helping homeless, badly-housed and hungry people in Rugby
Volunteer newsletter

Dear Volunteers
As we prepare ourselves and our own homes for the winter, the work of Hope4 is also gearing up to provide the 9th year of Rugby Winter Shelter. If you have some time you'd like to give to helping provide over 1,000 bed nights to our badly-housed and homeless clients this winter, please do contact the tireless Phil Clucas, who is, again co-ordinating this huge project. Our huge thanks go to Phil and all the teams for their life-changing work in this area.
Our MacMillan coffee morning on 12th October raised over £130, thanks to all who baked, attended and gave generously to this good cause.
We are in the process of appointing a new Key Worker,  who will engage especially with our Eastern European clients - thanks to approval from the National Lottery for this extra support.
We give our thanks to Pat, Ruth and Sarah for their years of trusty support for Hope4 and wish them well. As they move, on, we are in need of new volunteers  -  so if you, or your friends, are able to join our Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday breakfast or Sunday lunch teams please contact Pauline on administration@hope4.org.uk to express your interest.
Finally, we are sorry to say goodbye to our longest-standing and much-loved Director, Lilian Francis, who is retiring from the board of trustees (however she will contiue to support Hope4 on the fundraising committee). Please feel free to join us for a farewell and thank you to Lilian on 20th December from 12-2pm when we will have a Christmas buffet for clients, volunteers, staff and friends past and present. Please email Pauline to let us know you're coming and any special dietary considerations.

The Hope4 team
Manager's report - Hope 4's activity over the last 6 months
Average number of clients  per month - 67
Number of clients housed - 32
Number of meals served - 5,112
Number of showers - 534
Number of client - staff interactions - 5,105

Thanks to the partnership working with Rugby Borough Council we have managed to house some long-term and highly complex homeless individuals, which has had an impact on the streets of Rugby. Of those that are still homeless, most are sofa surfing or in tents out of the town centre.  Feedback from Rugby Street Pastors has been very positive and we are now working with the Police to deter the begging in the town by those that are not homeless
Foodbank Warehouse - Update
Last month we promised some news on the Foodbank Warehouse. And here it is!
Harvest  Festival - enormous thank you!
Thank you for all your fabulous support for the foodbank Harvest collections. So far, an amazing 6.9 tonnes of food has been collected in 61 churches and schools . Thank you so much!.
Christmas Collections
We are seeing soaring numbers of clients (up 27%) as we head into the busiest time of the year, and this brings further need for volunteers, particularly on the Friday warehouse team. If you can help please contact John.
There are also 3 days of supermarket collections at Tesco from 21-23rd Nov - if anyone can help at the store for a few hours please contact corinne@rugby.foodbank.org.uk
Thank you for your help, especially at Christmas when those on the lowest income struggle the most. Each and every donation is very valuable.

Volunteers needed
In preparation for the colder months, we are currently signing up volunteers for the Winter Shelter. If you would like more information about how to help please email wintershelter@hope4.org.uk
See this video for information about how you might be able to help with the Winter Shelter.
Further lucky supporters of Hope4 were winners in last week's lotto and there are some tickets left for The Rugby Charity Lotto. This contributes a healthy sum on a monthly basis to a range of local charities and if you fancy playing you can choose to support Hope4.
Thank you to our first Hope4000 supporters!
Hope4000 is our appeal to get 4000 supporters to make small, regular donations to Hope4 to keep all of its good work going into the future. It's a regular way of giving a small amount (say £4 a month) to help keep the work of Hope4 going beyond the current phase of National Lottery funding.
Will you be amongst the first to pledge this support?
Monthly prayer meeting
The monthly prayer meeting happens on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 6.45pm.
The next meeting is on 21st November. You are very welcome to attend.
