Welcome to the completely rewritten newsletter from www.paulgitsham.com!

I had been due to send out a newsletter a few months ago - but then everything rather changed, and I decided to wait and see what was going to happen!

Needless to say, this year's planned festivals and book signings have been cancelled, with everything shifting online where possible or simply being postponed until next year.

But life goes on and I'm pleased that this year's books were published when expected.

Latest Publications
The first was the novella - At First Glance, which appeared in March, just as the world was heading towards lockdown.

The novel opens with the killing of a drug-dealer in his car. The suspect is arrested within hours and it seems an open and shut case... but of course it isn't.

As always, it can be read on its own, but naturally you will benefit from reading others in the series. The book includes a short introduction to the next full-length in the series.

At the time of writing, pretty much all of my books are 99p on Amazon UK, so now is a good time to pick up a bargain.

The second book this year, Warren Jones 6A Price to Pay, was released at the beginning of June in eBOOK format, and is a full-length. It's hard to believe, but this is actually the TENTH book in the series. Available through the usual channels immediately, it should be released as paperback and audiobook on August the 6th.

In this mystery, Warren is faced with the murder of a man in a massage parlour. This time there are two eyewitnesses, and it took place in broad daylight. You'd think this would be an easy one to solve... But of course it soon becomes a lot more complex. The eyewitnesses are Serbian nationals who speak poor English, and the victim was the son of a notorious local crime family and infamous for pursuing other men's wives.

Lockdown Launch!
By now I've pretty much got into the swing of this lockdown thing. Personal appearances are out, but I have been busy on YouTube and the internet. I've listed a few of my more notable 'appearances' below.

First of all, let's not let a global pandemic get in the way of a good book launch!
Follow the links for my rather cheesy Youtube Lockdown Launch Day Video and trailer for A Price to Pay.

In addition to reviews posted to GoodReads, Amazon and NetGalley, friends and colleagues in the writing community have been very generous with their time, reviewing my books, interviewing me and allowing me to post articles to their websites and blogs.

Highlights have included:
  • An invitation for a drink in Anne Coates' virtual cocktail lounge.
  • Liz Mistry grilling DCI Warren Jones for her Detectives in the Dock series on her CrimeWarp blog.
  • The Guernsey writer and blogger, Jenny O'Brien, kindly let me speak about the ideas behind A Price to Pay on her blog,
  • The always interesting Crime Time online magazine let me blather on about the process about writing A Price to Pay.
  • And finally, I wrote an article back in March for the Crime Readers' Association about why writers should 'Fear Not The Details'. In it I reassure fellow scribblers that those pesky real life details that at first glance threaten to derail your favourite scene, might in fact improve the final story.
Audiobooks.
Are you a fan of audiobooks? I'm delighted to announce that all of my full-length novels are available, unabridged, to download as audiobooks. Narrated by the wonderful Malk Williams, It's been an absolute thrill listening to my stories being read out loud, and he's really brought them to life.
Books 1 to 5 are available through Audible and other providers, with Book 6 due for release on August 6th.

To download from Audible, you will need their free app. You can then access the books either through the app, or through each book's Amazon page. Follow this link for the list of all my books https://amzn.to/2C05ODa.

And finally - what have I been up to lately?
The good news is that I have been busy writing - I recently signed another 3 book deal to keep DCI Warren Jones busy for the next few years.

Full-length Book 7 is well-under way, with a planned publication date for summer 2021. Book 8 and Book 9 should follow in summer 2022 and 2023! Needless to say, these are provisional dates and subject to change, but all being well there will be plenty more Warren for the foreseeable future.

So, thank you again for subscribing, and I look forward to sharing my latest news in the future.

Stay safe,
Paul

Major upgrade to paulgitsham.com
Time for a change!
First of all, a big thank you to everyone who has stopped by paulgitsham.com over the past 5 years. I first set up the website way back in 2014. Since then I've tinkered with it and added new pages, but it was starting to look rather tired. So earlier this year, I decided to bite the bullet and redesign from scratch.
The biggest change has been to the way it renders on mobile devices. A clever little third-party plugin on Weebly.com, my webhost, now means that I can display two different versions of content, with one optimised for smaller screens. Both versions display the same information, but hopefully it's now a lot more user-friendly for those visitors using mobile devices.
It's still a work in progress, and I'd love any thoughts and feedback on the redesign.
As always, drop me an email at DCIJones@outlook.com.

Mailing List
I'm afraid that my old mailing list has disappeared into the ether, so I am starting again from scratch. Please do sign up again, if necessary. As before, I promise not to clog up your inbox unless I have news to share, and of course you can always unsubscribe by following the links at the bottom.
