General Body Meeting
In accordance with Article V Section 18 b, of the Articles of Incorporation (https://www.kcsmw.org/about-kcsmw/aoi/) of the Kerala Cultural Society of Metropolitan Washington, notice is hereby given that the Annual General Body meeting of the society will be held on Sunday, December 1st, 2019 at Sully Government Center: 4900 Stonecroft Blvd, Chantilly, VA 20151 at 5:00 PM.

Notice of Proposed Amendments to the Articles of Incorporation
The notice is also hereby given as per Article X of the Society’s Articles of Incorporation (https://www.kcsmw.org/about-kcsmw/aoi/) to consider the following amendments (addition of the highlighted text in yellow below) to the Articles of Incorporation at the General body. The un-highlighted text is what currently exists in the referred section.

Rationale of change
In order to increase life memberships, participation in leadership (Board of Directors), and generation of newer ideas from the newer members of the Society, the following amendments are being proposed: 
 
Article IV Section 2: c. Lifetime membership shall be $250.00, which entitles the family members to discount rates at the Onam and Christmas feasts at the discretion of the Executive Committee. In case the lifetime member has to move out of Virginia, Maryland, DC area due to work reasons within five (5) years of being a life member, the member shall have an option to rescind their life membership of the society and be entitled to a refund of half the amount paid for the life membership ($125.00). The member shall submit the documentation to the KCSMW Treasurer within one month of moving out of the area in order to obtain a refund in case they want to use the option. 
 
Article IV Section 3: Only regular members who are eighteen years of age and above are eligible to vote and hold any elected office of the Society. Any individual who is not a regular member of the Society by the last day (31) of October is not eligible to continue or to be nominated or elected for any office listed under Article V (1) or as a member of the Executive Committee (Board of directors) or as a member of the Advisory Board or hold the position as Chairman of any of the Standing Committees of the Society for the following year. Any Individual who was the President of the society more than five (5) years ago as of January 1st is not eligible to be nominated or elected for any office listed under Article V (1) or as a member of the Executive Committee (Board of directors) or as a member of the Advisory Board or hold the position as Chairman of any of the Standing Committees of the Society for the following year.
 
Nominations for Officers and Executive Committee  
In accordance with Article V. Section 1, Section 3 and Section 18 b of the Articles of Incorporation (https://www.kcsmw.org/about-kcsmw/aoi//) of the Kerala Cultural Society of Metropolitan Washington, nominations are invited from eligible members for the following Officers and Executive Committee Members for 2020.

• Vice President
• Secretary
• Joint Secretary
• Treasurer
• Joint Treasurer 
 
The nomination form can be found at: https://www.kcsmw.org/nomination-form-for-2020/  The nominations should be in writing and duly seconded after obtaining the consent of the nominees. The nominations should be submitted to the nomination committee members on or before November 15, 2017 at nomination@kcsmw.org
