Andrew Evans: Chief Pharmaceutical Officer for Wales to speak at the PDA National Conference

<<First Name>>, we are excited to reveal another session at the PDA National Conference 2020.

Spearheading some of the most fundamental changes in community pharmacy for decades, and demonstrating that there are some visionary leaders in pharmacy, Andrew Evans, the Chief Pharmacist for Wales is coming to the PDA National Conference in March 2020 to describe his plan for pharmacy and how it is being delivered through innovation.

In April 2019, the Welsh government provided an extra £1.4 million in funding to support “new and innovative services” and while attending the PDA's Conference in Wales in May, Vaughan Gething, the Minister for Health for Wales announced a further £100,000 towards the costs of pharmacists’ training in minor ailments.

The position taken by Wales on the training of pharmacists for Independent Prescribing is legendary. In Wales, the government has covered the costs of training, expenses and backfill payments for its trainee Independent Prescriber pharmacists.

Progress in Wales has been described by many as a big success story, but we all know that behind the genesis of many of these programmes sits a plan that has been designed, engineered and pushed over the line by the nation’s Chief Pharmacist.

How did they do it and what can we learn from the Welsh experience?

We are delighted that Andrew has agreed to address our Conference, he will deliver this year's 'Visionary Leadership in Pharmacy' session. We urge members to attend as we know that this will certainly be a motivational performance.

The PDA National Conference will take place in Birmingham on 28 – 29 March 2020. Act now to secure your place at what will be another high calibre two-day conference that will bring together some of the most influential people in pharmacy from both the UK and overseas.

We will be announcing more sessions shortly.
