BISHOP'S BLOG:
Parousia - God’s Invitation to a Church in Resurrection - Part I

Bishop San will be blogging about Parousia over the next several months leading up to the 2020 Convention.  Here is an excerpt from his first blog post...

"Parousia is God’s gift to the Diocese of Easton, a viable opportunity to be the church on the eastern shore that dedicates its focus, energy and purpose toward proclaiming the vision of the living Christ. We are doing so by committing to be a vibrant and visible witness of a community of faith that isn’t comfortable in living into a dying status quo rather, through the redemptive process, to take what is already here and working it through different missional lenses, whereby, they begin to speak and minister to the 21st century church on the eastern shore."  Read entire blog post here.

Churches in the Bahamas are helping feed hundreds of people left with nothing after their homes were swept away last month in Hurricane Dorian.  A report from the bishop of The Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands, Laish Boyd, has cataloged the damage to churches, church properties and their members and also reveals how many churches are continuing to provide a lifeline to communities.  Shortly after the hurricane struck, the bishop encouraged his clergy and congregations to reach out to those in need around them.  Read the full article here.

Bishop's Spotlight:

Bishop San made his annual visit to Christ Church, Denton, on Sunday, October 10, 19th Sunday of Pentecost. Christ Church continues to be our little ‘gem’ in Caroline County engaging in numerous life-giving ministries in the area. Despite their many challenges, including engagement in a search process for a new priest-in-charge, the lay leadership is an inspiration. We give God thanks for the ministry promoted and proclaimed by the parish.

San visited St. Mary Parish, Pocomoke City on Sunday, October 27, 20th Sunday after Pentecost. Two adults were baptized, one adult received into the Episcopal Family and one reaffirmed. Bishop San was impressed to witness the energy, enthusiasm and confidence exhibited by parishioners in our southern most parish. It is a small church that is witnessing revival and revitalization under Reverend Christine Mottl pastoral leadership, a vibrant vestry and lay leadership.
The Jewish Synagogue which was donated by the Jewish community and blessed last year by the bishop is transformed into a vibrant Thrift Shop. The Attic is served by donations from members and other generous supporters of the ministry. Volunteers offer their time every Saturday from 10am to the ministry. It is gradually becoming a major outreach center in the community.

San’s visit to St. Andrew Parish, Princess Anne, on Sunday, November 3, Feast of All Saints’ Sunday, was equally inspiring with three adult confirmations, one reception and one reaffirmation. The Reverend Rob Laws, vestry and lay leaders are working diligently to ensure the witness of the church takes on an ecumenical flavor. A Christian ecumenical partner, an African American congregation, worships every Sunday in their Parish House.

Let’s keep our three sister parishes in our prayers as well as all our congregations doing God’s work in their respective mission fields.

Special Prayers for The Right Reverend Dr. Paul Colton, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, Anglican Church of Ireland, and a friend of Bishop San who was hospitalized for two weeks for dehydration which caused him to collapse at one of his Bishop’s Visitation. We pray God’s healing on our brother +Paul.
