There are times when we all have trouble making the right decisions for our long-term wellbeing.

We eat a food we would prefer to avoid; we sit on the couch when we want to go to the gym; we scroll social media when we want to get some work done.

Part of the problem is assuming that we can muster the willpower to resist these temptations. 

Self-control shouldn't rely on mental effort. We need strategies to avoid conflicts before they strike.

Some Other Interesting Stuff

1. The more we rely on the internet, the more we rely on transactive memory (the knowledge of where to find certain information) at the expense of semantic (the memory of the information itself). We should be looking to change that
 

2. While the fear of job losses looms over many fields, the creative roles are likely the least at risk, and might even grow more numerous with AI serving as assistant.

3. Here's an interactive look at how information spreads through a network, and how the feedback loop between knowledge & technology fits in. 

4. Is ego depletion real? Does the brain consume a limited resource when we engage our willpower? Or is it a victim of psychology's replication crisis? Listen to a podcast with someone in the thick of the research. 

5. Lean learning is about: Learning the core of what you need to learn; Applying it to real-world situations; Receiving feedback and refining your understanding; & Repeating the cycle
