NOTES FROM THE DEAN
For so many on campus and in our greater Providence community, Fleet Library's "Living Room" is already a space of inspiration, restoration, and contemplation. Our launch of Chris Bardt's Material and Mind (MIT Press, 2019) on October 10 added celebration to this list and kicked off what we hope to make an ongoing series of panel discussions, lectures, launches, and other events that put a spotlight on publishing and related achievements of RISD faculty. Next up is the celebration of the publication of the 10th volume of Interior Architecture's Int|AR journal. Please see details below, mark your calendar for this anniversary event, and stay tuned for others in the series.

And while we're talking about celebrations, we're also thrilled to announce the full launch of the shared database for our Material Order consortium. While we still hope we'll see you in the Materials Collection, you also now have the option to sample samples from the comfort of your own home, office, or dorm room.

Happy exploring from wherever you launch your library journey,
Margot Nishimura
MATERIALS COLLECTION DATABASE LAUNCH
Fleet Library is a founding member of Material Order, an academic consortium of design-based materials collections that includes material sample libraries at Harvard and Parsons. The consortium provides a community-based approach to managing and accessing materials, and now also co-hosts a shared database for exploring the collections across the holdings of all member libraries. Check it out at Material Order SEARCH.
NEW PERIODICALS
JOURNAL LAUNCH
Co-hosted by Fleet Library and the Office of the Provost, the launch of Int|AR's 10th volume on Thursday, November 7, will be the second installment in a new series that uses the grand "living room" space of the Library to celebrate faculty publications and related achievements.
